Hey, has anyone had any luck conceiving naturally with these SA results. I know the others are in range but they arnt particularly good either are they and then obviously the morphology is really bad. I’ve been TTC for a year now so I was just wondering if anyone had any positive stories with similar results as I’m thinking I’m wasting time trying naturally and should start looking into IVF..

days of abstinence was 5 days btw that isn’t written on the results

Tbh I don't think the results are that bad.
We had only 1% morphology and got pregnant but I miscarried. We didn't want to wait forever trying again as I'm 38 so we did have icsi but natural conception is definitely not impossible with your results. 23 MIL is a good amount of sperm and fertility told us that's more important. If you had low count with low morphology then it would obviously be an issue but 3% isn't something to worry about as wed spoke to several fertility consultants regarding our results which were really terrible compared to yours and even they said for our case not impossible just might take more time .
97% of all mens sperm are abnormal anyway

Lilybluexmoo1 · 25/08/2024 11:29

So sorry for your miscarriage but thank you so much your lovely response. That makes me feel so much better that it's not impossible and we will probably try for a few more months and then look into icsi x

His results look normal... my partners were so low they could've even measure the morphology. Our first baby was ivf icsi and conceived naturally second time! And his sperm count was still very very low. For context his progressive motility was 1percent x

2sisters · 25/08/2024 13:24

I guess it depends how old you are. IVF is very hard emotionally. What has your partner done to improve his sperm? Is he taking vitamin? Stopped drinking and smoking? Is he eating healthy? He needs to make diet and health changes and then check his spem again once he's implemented those changes for 3 months consistently.

Ididivfama · 25/08/2024 13:27

It honestly completely depends and how long you want to/have time to wait. My partner had incredibleon all scales and we still couldn’t conceive a second child! Would probably have happened eventually but we went for ivf. We decided to go for it after 18 months.

That's amazing, thank you. I guess it really does just take 1 strong healthy sperm to do it x

I'm 29 and have been trying for almost a year and my partner is 37. We was recommended by the doctor to use proxceed, we both eat healthy and are active but he does vape 😡 we rarely drink as well it's been 2ish months since his SA so I'll see if there's any improvement soon but I know the vapes deffo need to go

My ExH had 1% morphology and also low motility. I naturally conceived twins after a 6 month break where he made some lifestyle changes (healthy eating, vitamins, no laptop on lap, etc).

That's how I feel we are currently in the middle of a house renovation so I'm giving myself till that's done and we are settled to conceive naturally so if nothing by then we are going to go down the ivf route. We have only been trying for nearly a year so not as long as some people but im 29 he is 37 and im getting really really impatient just feeling like it's never going to happened due to his sperm x

They don’t look that bad at all!

My DH’s were awful (so awful they said we could only conceive via ICSI) and we conceived naturally after some lifestyle changes. Took about a year of him being super healthy, no cycling, no phone in pocket, he took the CountBoost & MotilityBoost supplements too.

Angelselevenx · 26/08/2024 10:52

Similar position here, partners SA was 187.2 million count, 61% motility and 3% morphology. We've had one chemical pregnancy and on cycle 19, due to start IVF in the new year ☹️

He definitely needs to ditch the vape. I'd get him Wellman conception plus vitamin. He needs eating a fertility friendly diet. No drinking or smoking. Are you taking perinatal vitamins?

Try to have fun with the baby making. I remember that sex become very stressful and boring when we were trying. We were desperate for a baby but not each other if you get what I mean. It was functional rather than loving.

At your age I'd wait. As long as you're fertility tests are normal. You can have a fertility MOT for about £500 if you haven't already done one. Honestly, I'd avoid IVF if possible. It's very traumatic, in my experience, and it doesn't end with having a baby. It had a huge impact on my relationship and my mental health.

I had 2 fresh cycles of ICSI and 5 or 6 frozen cycles. I had 2 miscarriages or 2 sets of twins during the process and I was on the verge of a nerve breakdown. I had DC1 at 40 and 9 months later found out I was pregnant with DC2 without intervention.

2sisters · 26/08/2024 11:28

Just wanted to add, if you go down the IVF route I found acupuncture and fertility counselling very helpful. The acupuncture helped to keep me centered and the counselling gave me someone external to vent to.

Bobbilennard · 26/08/2024 13:39

Has anyone can success stories for improving low morphology (0.5%) with proxeed?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 26/08/2024 14:15

You only need one single sperm, look at it that way.

VioIetMoon · 26/08/2024 19:58

@Bobbilennard we tried everything and nothing improved his results. Tbh I think a good multivitamin , diet and exercise is sufficient . I truly think products aimed at improving sperm and egg quality are just marketing and as far as I was told none of claims have been medically proven. Alot of the companies that make claims aren't independently tested by reputable labs so it's easy to make claims.
I threw everything at it and still produced poor quality eggs and we still needed icsi and only advice I was ever given by all the fertility consultants was a good pre natal, folic acid and vitamin d
I wish I hadn't as I spent an absolute fortune foolishly thinking they were going to solve our fertility issues

VioIetMoon · 26/08/2024 19:58

@marmaladeandpeanutbutter exactly. That's the advice we were given by consultants when trying naturally

Luluem · 26/08/2024 20:08

Hi - anecdotal obviously, but my partner had low count and low morphology, and am about 2 weeks off delivering our second. Both in mid 30s

Bobbilennard · 26/08/2024 20:46

Oh wow that is great congrats! Anything he did in particular? I’m so desperate for conceiving naturally more for the fact of how expensive private is. But we’re at a year and I’m starting to lose hope

I'd like to hear these too, it was the one product the fertility doctor recommended to my partner to improve his morphology and it's so expensive compared to others it's £38 every two weeks

Lilybluexmoo1 · 27/08/2024 10:31

@2sisters thank you for your response I'll definitely take all that into account, I was looking into acupuncture as well to help my stress levels.. yeah we've both had the full fertility check ups and I've has a hycosy as well. My amh is also slightly low for my age at 12.9 I think it should be 13 or higher (measured in pmol I think)

Bobbilennard · 27/08/2024 11:31

Omg is that how much is it?? The other one I’ve seen is impryl, have you ever been recommended this?

Letitbe24 · 27/08/2024 11:32

My hubby had 2% morphology and we conceived naturally in 5 months and now 17 weeks pregnant. He had a high count (130 million) and good motility of 53%. If you think about it that’s still 1.4 million decent sperm per ejaculate or 0.9m for you DH, so plenty in theory.

Can I ask why he did 5 days abstinence? The instructions for my DH were 2 days abstinence and test on the third day. I think sperm can go bad if left in the pipes too long.

Definitely ditch the vape and take the best vitamins and in the meantime I’d continue down the NHS ivf path, in case you don’t manage to fall naturally. I don’t think there’s anything in those results to suggest it can’t happen though!

Lilybluexmoo1 · 27/08/2024 13:45

@Bobbilennard yeah from Amazon! Thought I'd give it a try for 3 months if not going to go to welman and it was just the one doctor that done my scan and his SA he just said that one but I've read soooo many Mumsnet forums and I've seen that impryl be mentioned a lot as being really good
