Advice on who the father could be

I am quite anxious as I am pregnant and there is a possibility of two potential fathers. Please no judgement but I am hoping to seek some opinions as to which is more likely as I need to know and do the right thing from here.

Sex with person 1: 6,7,8,10 July unprotected
Sex with person 2: 12th July two times unprotected but definitely pulled out prior both times

Is there a chance it could be person 2?

Cycle details:
LMP 26 June
Predicted fertile days according to app: 5-11th July with predicted ovulation on the 9th. Cycles are usually pretty regular 28 days.
First positive pregnancy test 18 July - quite faint followed each day with darker lines. Positive 1-2 weeks on digital test 19 July. Solid line by 21 July.
Scan showed EDD 2 April 2025

If you had a positive test on the 18th, five days before your period is due (?) that's super early. Chances are it will be person 1. Realistically though it could be either, and you'd only know with a DNA test after the baby is born.

Yes period was due 24 July… it was very faint but was definitely there and by the 20 solid line.
this is what makes me think it can’t be person 2 because is it not possible to test positive 6 days after? IF I had ovulated on the 11 or 12th?

It’s not going to be person 2

you wouldn’t have got a positive test in such short a time frame

you’ll still want a paternity test for peace of mind

do the potential fathers know about each other?

I'd say you can do all of the math in the world, but only a DNA test can tell you. Even if the dates are adding up / making one of them seem super unlikely - there's always the chance it's the second person.

The right thing to do from here (in my opinion) would be to be honest with both men and let them know, then get a DNA test as soon as practical for you.

StuckOnTheCeiling · 14/08/2024 09:32

Person 1 is much more likely, but I don’t think you can rule either out with those dates.

Snugglewuggle25 · 14/08/2024 09:36

Much more likely to be person 1. As the egg only lives for roughly 12-24 hours, and most likely the sperm was already waiting for the egg before ovulation.
Try not to worry. X

not person 2. 6 days before positive pregnancy test? definitely not

JuliesBaby2025 · 14/08/2024 10:08

Agree, not person 2. You just wouldn't have gotten a positive test in that short a time frame.

HowIrresponsible · 14/08/2024 10:10

No idea.

I'd not tell person 1 it's his as you don't know for sure

dbeuowlxb173939 · 14/08/2024 11:45

Highly unlikely to be person 2 but would still be doing a DNA test to be sure

sel2223 · 14/08/2024 12:41

As others have said, it is very unlikely to be person 2 based on your dates.
You most likely ovulated around the 9th/10th meaning you were about 8-9 dpo when you tested positive. I've never heard of anyone getting a BFP less than 8 dpo.

Unfortunately, even saying all that, with the dates being as close as they are, I still don't think you can 100% categorically rule out person 2 without a DNA test.

Please get tested for STDs also!
