Hi, I got a call on Friday to say I’m high risk for trisomy and will need a diagnostic procedure done. 1 in 2.

Since then nobody has contacted me so do I just assume it’s not that bad and just leave it? As husband thinks if they aren’t bothered about calling it’s obviously not that bad.

Thanks but I’m not NHS I’m in a place where we pay for our own healthcare.

But what I’m annoyed about is now leaving it this long they’ve taken away the chance for CVS which I wanted rather than the amnio.

I’ve already called them 3 times this week and they just pass me from pillar to post and nobody even knows who I am or my case.

Read above, I have chased them. What can I do exactly if they say oh I’m not sure, someone will call back. Rinse and repeat.

Not sure I can advise if your not on nhs / England but I paid for a private nipt test. Results took weeks. It's a very accurate blood test from a vein

Marshmallowsmore · 08/08/2024 11:12

I had the option to pay £500 to do that through them too, but obviously can’t book in for that as they haven’t called back. Just annoyed and disappointed. I feel like an idiot keep calling up for them to act like I’m a bloody weirdo and they have no idea about my case.

Do you intend to terminate if is confirmed as trisomy? Then best chase up ASAP.
But patau or Edwards are always much more serious in terms of health implications etc than down syndrome (more variability in outcome) so is worth knowing which asap to plan.
If you plan to see how it goes you could wait and see on 20 week scan.

Marshmallowsmore · 08/08/2024 11:14

As you can already see there’s far too much fluid on the neck.

If they don't call back go to their location and ask to see someone in person .

Deserthog · 08/08/2024 11:18

I would be calling until I get a resolution then.

Or going in person and waiting until whoever is in charge can speak to me. Now is not the time to be passive.

Marshmallowsmore · 08/08/2024 11:21

Just phoned back and said I’m not hanging up until I get a plan in place, she’s just hung up. What the actual.

I’d realise a formal complaint and in the meantime look for a new clinic.

You wouldn’t be able to trust them now anyway.

K0013 · 09/08/2024 07:06

I'm sorry you are going through all this, what a terrible way to be treated. Hope you get it sorted asap x

friendshipover24 · 09/08/2024 07:10

Which country is this? Do you speak the language?

CrumpledBankNote · 09/08/2024 07:11

What is salty prawns problem???? Deleted posts on every thread. Just go away.

So sorry you're going through this stress OP. They've treated you terribly. What country are you in? Someone may be able to advise better??

I wouldn't be able to go on without not knowing - can you travel to the hospital in person and ask to be seen? Or is there a private screening that you can have?

Pinkypinkyplonk · 09/08/2024 07:12

I’d go to another clinic and get another scan. You can deal with this clinic later.

Marshmallowsmore · 09/08/2024 11:20

I’m in Jersey, Channel Islands. It’s all private healthcare, but they’ve told me not to go with another company for the NIPT as I’ll only be referred back to them.

I contacted again first thing this morning, and was told that the lady yesterday had to go as she was on a half day and hasn’t had time (since Friday!) to inform the fetal medicine consultant about my situation. She said she’d call back but we shall see.

It’s a horrible limbo to be in and even just having a date or appointment in place would atleast give me something to work towards. They follow RCOG/NHS pathways, they use them to send a lot of our bloods to, yet do not follow the rules stating a woman should be offered further diagnostic testing within 3 days.
