Symptom spotting, looking for advice and experiences from those who have been there!

Hello all, my husband and I are TTC, it’s been several months since we started.

I am trying to take a more laid back approach, putting less pressure on myself as it doesn’t change the outcome, but it’s so hard not to analyse every symptom or lack of symptom.

I am currently in 2ww, now 10dpo and trying to avoid symptom spotting and just wait for a hopefully missed period in a few days, but I can’t help being aware that not noticing any symptoms at all.

Possibly a very slight bit of discomfort in one breast, and tiny little fluttery pulls in tummy, but if I’m being honest it could be indigestion!

Has anyone had a similar experience of not noticing any symptoms even when looking for them, but has turned out to be pregnant?

I realise I am still putting pressure on myself by thinking about it so much, but this time I am just trying to manage my own expectations so I don’t feel disappointed again this month if it doesn’t happen.

I would appreciate any advice from those who had previously been symptom spotting with either BFP or BFN outcome.

I was horrendous for symptom spotting when trying for my daughter last year, even though I knew full well you can have no symptoms and still be positive! I actually thought I was not pregnant because I’d had no symptoms during my two week wait and I’d had a small bleed which I thought was my period. I was travelling for work on the final day, had a night out planned with my husband for that night and a bottle of prosecco in the fridge waiting for me getting home (we had agreed that every unsuccessful month we’d have a lovely date night to distract us). That morning I had really sensitive nipples like to the point of pain when wearing a bra but thought it was just my period, then had a sudden horrendous wave of sickness and was sick on the train home. Took a test at the train station and was pregnant! The prosecco had to wait nearly a year to be drunk😂 good luck! X

No advice, just happen to be in a similar position! We’ve been ttc since May - first couple of months I overanalysed everything but this month has been busy (holiday, engagement and my 30th!!) so I’ve had less time to think about the TWW. Clue says I’m 3 days late. I haven’t tested yet, don’t have any tests at home but think I’m also reluctant in case it’s BFN… when will you test @LavenderTree ?

that’s great you have had some distractions this month, and congratulations on the engagement! And happy birthday of course.

I have been doing better this month and definitely analysing things less, but it’s impossible not to question anything! My stress levels feel much better for the less googling and focusing on other distractions, I hope yours are too!

I am 10dpo today, I’ll try to wait to 14dpo before I test as it’s still quite early. I feel reassured knowing others have had no symptoms and still been positive so there is hope for me yet.

When will you test?
Good luck! Sending you lots of positivity.

Thanks for your reply! And congratulations. It’s funny how it seems to go from 0-100 very quick for some people with the sudden symptoms!

I am feeling hopeful hearing your positive story. Hope you’ve managed to enjoy the Prosecco now 😁

I had no symptoms at all when I got BFP this time, until about 6 weeks pregnant when it all kicked in at once. I usually got quite a lot of PMS symptoms.

Yeah it definitely did for me, thank you! I have finally drunk my prosecco, and now thanks to that prosecco and a broken condom (typically right in the middle of my fertile week🥲) I’m now waiting to bliddy test again 4 months post partum 🙃

I’m 4 days late so ended up testing this afternoon. BFP!! Line started to appear on the test even before the control came up. Still absolutely no symptoms (other than the lack of AF). Bemused, overwhelmed and v excited. Hope this is a positive sign for you - keep us updated!

I do genuinely think that most pregnant women don't get symptoms until around 6 weeks. I think a lot of the TWW symptoms are caused by progesterone/people over analysing what's going on with their body. Of course there will be exceptions, but if you ask lots of pregnant women they will say it didn't kick in until much later. I started to feel very sick and tired towards the end of week 5. Did not have one single symptom during the TWW.

Congratulations! So happy and excited for you. Really proves this process is different for everyone and symptoms aren't a definite guide!

Also well done for waiting until 4days to test! I’m only 11dpo and feeling impatient 😄

I’ve started to get a little lower back pain which could be AF really. I’m holding out for a few more days then will let you know how my test goes!

Thank you everyone who responded. You have kept me sane the last 24 hours

@hopeful4us @LizzeyBenett @Mrsttcno1 @Peonies12 @imy

Im just updating here to say, I lost my patience tonight at 12dpo, and took a test…

BFP!!

This is my first positive after several months TTC and I’m gobsmacked. I can’t believe it at all. I had no symptoms until today, I started to get a very small light tummy ache, I was not very hopeful as I still had no implantation bleeding. I was not expecting this result, especially not with an evening wee!

Now taken 3 tests and all clear BFP 🥲

Omg @LavenderTree congratulations!!!! Amazing news! Most women don't get implantation bleeding but I know lots of us TTC want those sorts of sigs for reassurance. So wonderful - I hope you continue to have no symptoms and have a wonderful pregnancy!!

hopeful4us · 08/08/2024 21:26

@LavenderTree YAY! So pleased for you. It really is a surreal feeling, definitely hasn’t fully sunk in for me yet.

I still don’t have symptoms and my app puts me at 5 weeks tomorrow. Having read quite a few (A LOT) of threads on here, lots of people report the classic symptoms around week 6 so we’ll have to wait and see 🥰
