Can you fall pregnant days after your period?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some knowledge , pls be kind 💖

I had my first baby a year ago I went on the pill soon after and experienced awful side effects so came off of it. Personally I don't feel comfortable being on contraception , I suffer with extreme health anxiety so having side effects and seeing horror stories online about contraception makes me uneasy.

I've been off of contraception now for 9 months and it's great not messing with my hormones. We have been using the pull out method as well as using condoms on my "most fertile days" according to the flo app. I use the flo app and I put in when my period starts and when it ends and I find the app very accurate as it's used to my cycles now. I'm not sure tho how accurate my ovulation days are.

Anyways, my period ended 30/07 and me and my partner had unprotected sex 02/08 , for the first time since having baby he ejaculated inside of me! He says it was in the heat of the moment and he wasn't really thinking when he done it. I FREAKED OUT!

Now the thing is, i never took the morning after pill , I took it once and ended up in A&E because I started bleeding extremely heavily and my health anxiety convinced me I was going to bleed to death.

I know falling pregnancy days after your period is possible but highly unlikely???

My flo app suggests I will ovulate between the 7-13th Aug

Has anyone fallen pregnant right after period? It will be a long wait to see if I am or not, It wasn't on the cards to try for another baby rn but we were thinking next year so we would still be really happy !

No hate pls I know a lot people would call me seriously silly for not being on contraception but being sexually active

It is possible, I always ovulated two- three days after my period ended, but please don't worry about it now, no doubt your period will arrive in about three weeks. I don't know how your app works but you say it is pretty accurate so trust it.

Good luck.

SplishSplashSploshes · 04/08/2024 19:23

It's possible but pretty unlikely.
One thing I will add though, try not to dwell on it. Stress can delay your period which could confuse things further in 3 weeks time.
Just relax and try to forget about it.

I ovulated one day after my period finished (though it wasn't a normal period, it was an intermittent bleed after a MC) and I'm now almost 12 weeks pregnant. It can happen, though I don't think it's usual.

Outliers · 04/08/2024 19:52

Very very unlikely.

Rycbar · 04/08/2024 19:57

Yes it’s possible. Ovulation isn’t always when the Flo app says. I have regular periods - a 30 day cycle but I actually ovulate towards the end of my cycle not in the middle. The only way to know when you’re actually fertile is to track ovulation and become familiar with when you do. I know now that I ovulate on day 19. You could ovulate towards the start. Remember sperm lives inside for up to 5 days too so you could have sex on the 2nd and ovulate on the 6th and still get pregnant - that takes you quite close to the predicted dates anyway.

CurlewKate · 04/08/2024 21:29

Please always use a condom. Every time.

Peonies12 · 04/08/2024 21:31

Unlikely but possible. If you don’t want another pregnancy, you need to use condoms every time. Or speak to GP about contraceptive options, rather than random google searches.

Borgonzola · 04/08/2024 21:41

Yes, you can. When ttc my first child I was typically ovulating on day 8, and that was when I conceived. The second time I conceived on day 17!

The Flo app is all very well for checking cycle length but you do need to pay attention to bodily symptoms eg cervical mucus, breast pain etc to find out when your fertile days are, as it can vary from person to person.

Elisabeth3468 · 05/08/2024 08:55

Deffo possible if you ovulated quite early in your cycle

Nursemumma92 · 05/08/2024 09:00

Yes definitely possible, happened to me although we were TTC. But my partner worked away and we didn't think i would get pregnant outside of the fertile window but I did.
You definitely need to sort out some proper contraception or use condoms every time. I know people who have also got pregnant from the pull out method too.

Hi everyone!

Thanks for the replies. So it's definitely possible and it's happened to some of you, ahhh!

It's exactly 2 weeks today since dp ejaculated inside of me , can I take a pregnancy test? Or should I wait until period is due? Which isn't until another 10 days!

I know it's advised to take a pregnancy test 2 weeks after unprotected sex but I think this usually means if you had sex in the fertile window?

I'm not sure! I might take one out of curiosity, assuming it will be negative & then retest when period is due if it doesn't arrive?

Cheshireflamingo · 16/08/2024 12:45

Got my fingers crossed for you. To prevent this sort of thing in the future, can I recommend the cap as a contraceptive method? I never liked being on the pill, and found the cap very easy to use.

If you ovulated two weeks ago then a test would probably be positive by now if you were pregnant so you could take one. However sperm can live for 5 days inside so if you ovulated 9 days ago you could still get pregnant from the time you had sex.

having said that, if your period is due in 10 days you would be unlikely to ovulate that early normally as that would be an incredibly long literal phase (unlikely not impossible).

take one but don’t take the negative as a definite as without knowing when you ovulated it’s all guess work at the moment!

sel2223 · 17/08/2024 04:58

Not impossible but very unlikely given your regular 30 day cycles.
And then add onto that the actual chance of falling pregnancy each month even if it's your most fertile day (about 20%).
I'd say the odds are minimal but nothing is impossible

wowiswow · 19/08/2024 13:41

Well... I took a test on Friday and it was bfn also took one this morning bfn,

I had the test from Friday in my drawer and I popped the one from this morning in the drawer I should of binned them really but kept anyways

I've just looked in and seen this on one of the tests and I have no idea if it was from Friday or this morning , looks like it's been laying so maybe an indent? But in my own opinion it looks a bit strong for an indent? I've used these tests before and never seen a second line even days after! I'll have to re-test I suppose? Thoughts?

No this will be a false positive if it's from Friday. You can only trust a line that comes up within 10 minutes x

dbeuowlxb173939 · 19/08/2024 14:42

When is AF actually due?

HoolsB · 19/08/2024 14:43

Yes, period finished on the Sunday, baby conceived on Tuesday.
