Day 3 blood test - can they be taken the day before or after

Hello

I am new to all this so please bear with me.I went to the doctors today and she has requested I go for a blood test on cd3. I am going to be away on that day, does anyone know if I can have this test done on cd2 or maybe cd5, or will this be no good?

Also if my period starts in the evening does this still count as cd1?

I hope someone can help as I know you ttcer's are very knowledgeable when it comes to all this (I follow these threads closely but have too much of an obessive nature to join in).

Hi,
I'm not absolutely sure about the blood test but I think cd2 is ok. I think they just need to check what your hormone levels are like at the start of your cycle. I'm sure someone will be along soon to give the right info.
When AF comes in the evening it is CD1. I wondered this recently .

I think you can have it on any day from cd2 - 5.

Lovely thank you very much for your replies, think I will go on cd2.

As for af, it always used to start in the morning so always knew that was cd1, and was regular as clockwork, but since ttc my cycles have become shorter with more days of pre-af spotting - Typical

Since TTC I have pre and post af spotting which makes my cycle unpredictable. Great, isn't it!

Do you happen to know if the day you start spotting means the end of your luteal phase or does this end the day you get your af, mentioned to the doc about the pre-af spotting and thought she might suggest 21 day blood tests, but said if my af wasn't regular then there was no point.

Sometimes I think I know too much on the subject!

No the end of the luteal phase is the day AF starts (red blood).
How irregular are you? I was supposed to have day 21 bloods last month but the labs managed to test for everything else but not the hormones so I have to have them done again this month. I don't normally OV until CD18 so I will only be 3DPO when these bloods are taken. My doc said I should go anyway but not sure how accurate the results will be.

My last few cycles have been 25, 24, 28, 28, 25, and this has only been the case since ttc (last 7 months),so sometimes have pre-af spotting as early as cd21, and can last up to 4 day before AF finally arrives.

How annoying they messed up on you tests, seems like always waiting for something to happen - Fingers crossed it won't be a waste of time for you this month.

Mine have been between 28 and 35 days. I have pre AF spotting that lasts for up to 3 days and then about 4 days post spotting.
I'll have to wait and see if I OV before going for blood tests. Fingers crossed
