Hi All,
I’ve had the mirena for 6 months, a week ago ish I thought I was getting a uti and had antibiotics and had abdominal cramps since. Today the coil has come out! I’ve had bleeding since, but had unprotected sex last night.
just wondering if anyone has had anything like this happen to them and if they got pregnant this quickly? I’m worried and can’t get the morning after pill until tomorrow.

thanks!

Other situations won't have any bearing on your unique circumstances. The chances are low, but morning after pill should be effective if you aren't currently ovulating. Good luck

If the coil was still in place yesterday, you will need to take the Levonelle or Upostelle pill, the Ella One pill will NOT work if there’s been any kind of hormonal contraceptive in your system in the five days prior.

Levonelle/Upostelle has a 96hr window but the efficacy decreases the longer you leave it. Tomorrow morning should be fine, but do take a pregnancy test in 3 weeks to make absolutely sure! You can have a Mirena refitted after 3 weeks when it is confirmed 100% that you aren’t pregnant, and you can take the mini pill to bridge the gap in between.

ETA Google will still say 72hrs for Levonelle but the actual guidelines now say 96hrs.
