I'm New! - Hen weekend tomorrow (Do I risk drinking?)

Hello there
I'm new to Netmums. I've been reading lots but have never posted but really need some advice.

I'm going on a hen weekend tomorrow but don't know whether I should drink or not. 🎉🫣🥂

My Situation:
We've been trying to conceive for 5 months.

I didn't test OPKs this month as I was getting to stressed with pressure of them.

My AF is normally regular (26-28 Days) with the exception of one month where it was just over a week early.

This month, I started spotting on CD16 and it lasted about 3 and a half days. Without TMI it started light pink and then was dark brown/red. It only stained a pad but never filled. It was mostly when wiping. (Sorry!)

I am now CD33 so if I was going to have my regular cycle, I am 4 days late.

I've took premom, Clear Blue and FRER tests and all BFN.

What do you think?
My question is:

  1. Could my spotting have been a really early period (2 weeks into my cycle) so I'm actually in the middle of my cycle?
  1. OR am I just late for AF and I'm getting BFN but could possibly test positive later.

Basically- should I risk drinking at this hen do this weekend? 😄 🤣

Thanks if you reply. I really need some help here!

Mate

yoyre not on netmums

JanglyBeads · 01/08/2024 09:15

Why risk it? And you must have known you might not be able to drink at this point.

JanglyBeads · 01/08/2024 09:16

Also, what @Alfonsoo said!

Polarnight · 01/08/2024 09:18

All of that could been condensed into 2 sentences.

I think I might be pregnant as missed period. Should I drink?

I don't know do what you like. Unless you're talking of getting blind drunk.

TennisLady · 01/08/2024 09:18

I mean, after over a year of TTC if I had a BFN whilst 4 days late then yes I would drink.... but others who don't TTC for so long might see it differently.

UrsulaSings123 · 01/08/2024 09:36

I'd just have a drink. If you're 4 days late I would have thought you'd have a positive test by now if pregnant, even if it was vvv faint.

Firstly I think everyone above have been pretty mean to you!!

no wonder you haven’t posted before on mumsnet, netmums (who actually cares on the somantics)

what I would say is, if you knew you were going to find out you were actually pregnant when you got back, would that change your mind?

yes it’s a hen, but this possibility could change the course of your future.

id say a sober weekend is worth the “what if” but that’s just me.

let us know, when I say us, I mean me, as everyone above are just spiteful, how you get on x

Adamsapple89 · 01/08/2024 10:05

Not sure why previous posters are being so rude, weird behaviour just don’t comment?

I would say at 4 days late and not even a hint of a line you’re most likely not pregnant and would be fine to drink. Just take one morning of to be sure

Totally agree! That’s what I thought, I don’t know why women all in the same boat TTC would be mean to each other

I agree, take one the morning off and if still negative enjoy your weekend. Xx

mangobe · 01/08/2024 10:17

I agree with @Scooby2024, do a test the morning of and drink if it's still negative ☺️ have a great time!

Kellyaust · 01/08/2024 10:25

Wow some people being bitchy this morning eh!! What's the point, sorry OP were not all mean.

I would expect a bfp 4 days late, maybe test on the morning of the hen do and if still bfn id maybe have a couple, depends how you feel really your personal choice or follow your gut feeling 😊

Welcome to Mumsnet (MN)
I too would do a FRER the morning of the event and then decide. Do your friends know you are TTC or would you be hiding the fact? You could ask the bartender for sparkling water in a wine/fancy glass.

I always found a re-usable OPK easier to read than those urine type ones. Cheaper in the long run also. Best of luck x

CTak · 01/08/2024 11:03

Take a few cheapie pregnancy tests with you. There's a good adage for this: drink till it's pink.

So, do another test with first morning pee tomorrow, and repeat on Sat and Sun morning. If negative, have all the fun. If positive, wahey!

Don't stop your life while TTC. It's a long, often miserable process and weekends like this offer rare glimmers of enjoyment and time away from the constant thinking about conception.

@BirthMumDreamer thank you for a nice reply. What is wrong with people on here?! We are all in the same boat at the end of the day.

Sorry I got the name of the site wrong, it was a rushed post and to be honest, if thats the worst thing that's happened in your day (a stranger getting the name wrong) then you lead a pretty miserable life 🤣 but anyway...back to the lovely replies ❤️....

I think in my head...if I were pregnant there would be at least a faint line now 😕 especially with FRER. And the other thing is that I did a random OPK a week after the spotting and it was positive. So maybe the spotting was my period?
Xx

@CTak Exactly this! I haven't had one drink in 5 months as I was trying to be the best version of myself. But I've been looking forward to my best friends hen do for so long now and with the FRER not even displaying a faint line at 4 days late (IF I even am late because the spotting could have been my period) then I'm probably gonna try go with the testing each morning thing and making a decision.

I'm not gonna get absolutely hammered - I'm not even a big drinker! Haha 😄 but a couple would be nice to celebrate and join in x

@JC03745 Yeah ill keep testing each morning. Some of my friends know, others don't but I really don't have any reason to hide it. It's not like I'm sacrificing pregnancy to "fit in", they wouldn't care if I didn't drink. But with 5 months of no drinking and so looking forward to the hen, everyone needs a little glimmer in the stressful world of TTC.

Thank you @Kellyaust - they really are 🤣 I say if you don't have anything nice to say, don't even bother replying.

Yes not even a faint hint at a line which is leading me to think the spotting was a very early period! Especially getting a positive opk the week after so might have been ovulation.

At 4 days late, you would really expect to have a positive, even faint. I'd test again in the morning, but if negative, if I were you I'd drink. I did reduce whilst TTC (probably drank too much before), but I didn't stop until I had a positive test.
