Male fertility and statins?

My partner 35 is on statins-

has anyone else successfully conceived with their partner on statins?

our last baby was three and half years ago…. Conceived first time…. He wasn’t on statins then though

Hello, a bit of a late reply.
my man is on statins as well and no result so far.
he is 39 and I track ovulation but nothing happens month after month…

We only just sort of started trying this month and didn’t conceive. So I don’t know if that’s the statin etc

Yeah, so we had our first 2021.. he went on statins in 2024… and I knew we wanted a second, so I wondered the effect, he’s still on the them now, but we only just tried this month… didn’t work. Onto the next.

No the other two pregnancies were from my previous partner.
This is my current partner who is on statins, and no pregnancy yet

What dosage is he on? Has he had any tests?

some quick googling seems to show coq10 being suggested to sort of counteract them.

He is on Atorvastatine 40mg for more then two years he uses this.
He didn’t have any tests.
The co enzym q10 could undo or minimiaze these effects is disputed in other researches..

Yes, and this is what I dont understand about this…what about the researches that say it does affect male fertility?
Is this totally based on nothing?

That’s good to hear.
They are not known to cause them but there have been researches that say it may cause fertilty issues… more research is needed to confirm this.

Oh thats interesting! Hopefully more studies are conclusive, ive heard other things about statins but tbh would need to research them a bit more. Fingers crossed you conceive very soon!

With short term use there is no serious effect, but these pills are usually not for short term treatment.

It’s mainly atorvastatine that has the worst effect according to these studies.

So there can be a difference between the different kinds of statins as well.
