Hey everyone, I’m 6 months postpartum and we are desperate to conceive baby 2. I have PCOS so conceiving baby 1 took us a really long time. Would love to hear any advice. I am currently exclusively breastfeeding day and night. Thank you in advance x

Has your period come back? If so, there's no particular reason you couldn't conceive - I conceived DS2 while breastfeeding DS1 and am now in the very early stages of pregnancy again, while still feeding DS2. But, I do know it's not uncommon for fertility not to return until breastfeeding has stopped, or for you to need a few cycles before it starts to be more normal, so it could be that 6 months (especially feeding day and night) could be too early. I imagine you'll have started/be about to start weaning, and hopefully that will help too as your little one becomes less reliant on milk over the next few months.

My understanding is that nighttime breastfeeding has more of an impact on fertility than daytime, so reducing night feeds could be something to look at in a few months if you've not fallen pregnant yet.
