BBT Slow Rise? Out of the game?

Hey everyone!

My partner and I got pregnant in November of last year but sadly had an early miscarriage at around 7 weeks in January of this year which was so upsetting because it was our first month trying for a baby & I ended up having to have a D&C. When we were told we could try as soon as we liked after the procedure we decided to wait until our summer holiday was out of the way and try again.

This brings me to this month which is our first month trying again & I know a lot of people out there are in worse situations than us but when it's something you really want, I'm sure we can sympathise that we can all get our heads in a bit of a spin can't we?!

I detected by LH surge using both the Clear blue ovulation kit & the Premom strips as being on CD 28 (later than the last few months have been). We tried really hard on the baby dancing front this month and I track my BBT everyday and maybe I'm going crazy but my BBT isn't rising as it did when we got pregnant last November. Am I reading too much into it as I'm only 3DPO (I think) or is this a sign that this month isn't ours?

I've attached a pic of my BBT chart this month & then the month we fell pregnant last year for comparison. Naturals cycles also hasn't confirmed ovulation this month so maybe that's because it's waiting for my temp to rise in the next few days?

Help! This TWW is not fun 😂 I'm a positive person so if this month isn't our time, it's ok, but it's so hard not to symptom spot & look for both positives and negatives daily.

Giving love to you all xx

Hmm from the graph it does look like you haven’t ovulated yet. It looks for three consecutively high temps, I say high but I think it’s just above the cover line. I’m assuming you’re now on cd32 from the graph.

That is really odd. Maybe it’s a slow rise temp, but it’s now also 4 days since your peak lh test? Was it a peak and not just the rise? I wonder if you haven’t yet ovulated and your body will try again, or if you have and maybe your temp will rise tomorrow. Have you had any illness that might have delayed it? I would keep DTD in the meantime if you both have the energy, just incase your ovulation has been delayed longer. It can’t hurt to cover the next few days.

Keep testing with lh tests incase it rises again (well it’s what I would do).

Have your periods been regular until now or have you just stopped contraception?

Also I’m sorry for your loss. I have been through a mmc and surgery for it. Then went on to conceive my son.

Hi lovely,

Since my miscarriage, my cycles have been on average between 30-34 days and ovulating on cycle day 18-21, so very strange that this month has been so much longer! My cycles were always irregular before my last pregnancy.

Nope no illness and I did get a peak and not just high. I tested twice on the day I got my peak and when I first woke up it was high and then a few hours later I tested again and the test line was darker than the control line so logged it on the Premom app and it confirmed as peak and then I confirmed it with the CB.

Aww thank you, if it doesn't rise tomorrow it's almost a way of guarding my heart but I've had a lot of cramping and bloating the last couple of days (felt as if I was on the first day of my period) so we will just see. Thank you for your advise though xx

I could be wrong and maybe you have ovulated and it’s just taking time to increase your temp.

I guess cd30-32 look to be slowly increasing.

Sorry I can’t be much more help. I hope my post above is wrong though, and good luck for the next few weeks.

Thank you so much, we shall see and if it's not our time you'll probably see me back on here in a few weeks 😂 xx

@DevonDumpling31 Oh just to add, and this is the first month it has happened to me, but I had ovulation pains the day before and the day of ovulation (confirmed ovulation with lh and bbt). I would describe it as cramps like I’m on my period. I never had this before I had a child. Your final comment made me remember about this.

I guess if you don’t have ovulation pains I don’t know why they would suddenly start now. I don’t want to give you false hope, it’s just on a rare chance you’re about to ovulate rather than AF?

Yes! I had ovulation pains on the day and the day after I got my peak and they've just continued until yesterday I had worse cramps and pinches in my left ovary, and not to mention TMI but constipation, gassiness and bloating. 🫣😂 not really any symptoms today.

On my last pregnancy my main symptom was sore boobs but I don't have that at all this time.

Weird!

Ah okay, the fact they continued maybe it just took longer to ovulate then and it’s a good sign they have stopped.

Good luck with the wait.

My temp took three days to rise above cover line when I last ovulated. I definitely did, because I'm pregnant!
