Ovulating on Letrozole but no pregnancy

Hi everyone,

I’m wondering if anyone has been in a similar position to me…

My partner and I have been trying to conceive for about a year now. I have mild PCOS but other than that all our test results came back very positive.

We have been prescribed 3 months of letrozole with very closely monitored cycles. The first cycle worked a charm, I had a juicy follicle on day 12 followed by confirmed ovulation but sadly no pregnancy. The second cycle much the same, this time we even did a trigger shot. I am now 14 days post trigger and have just been hit with my BFN and early period spotting. I feel so incredibly disheartened.

I know it can take a few cycles and we need to be patient- I’m just so confused and deflated because throughout each step of the past two letrozole cycles everything looked so perfect. I now can’t help but worry that there is a bigger underlying problem that we are not yet aware off. I know the clinic will tell me just crack on with our third cycle and keep a positive frame of mind.

I wondered if anyone has any similar stories? Sending hope to all those in similar circumstances!

Sadly it's not that simple . I having iui with letrozole and trigger but 2x failed attempts. I think sometimes you just need to wait until positive results. Best of luck ot will happen eventually

I also have mild PCOS and was put on letrozole to conceive our second child. Everything looked great from the first round but took me until the third go to get pregnant.
Great that you're responding well to letrozole and fingers crossed everything aligns soon.

@whatthejuice thankyou so much for getting in touch. So good to hear that it worked for you on your third cycle ❤️ I’m just going to go into this one with an open mind. I think this time we will do it unmonitored and just use the ovulation sticks as we can’t really afford the cost of the scans right now ( we recently moved so new home plus fertility treatment weighs heavy on the bank account!)

It's so expensive isn't it! Funnily enough we never went with scans and used sticks instead.

Best of luck to you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I had a few rounds of letrozole - and i added in baby aspirin 75mg kind for my final round and that was the round that worked. Always wonder if that is what gave it the extra push - I took it from CD10 until i ovulated.

So no advice but dont give up and there is a letrozole/femara group on fb which i found lots of helpful advice and tips but i do believe it is luck.

Hi
i also have pcos
im currently on Clomid 50mg and its my first month with it.
I ovulated and had all the symptoms of ovulation but im on 10DPO and don’t feel anything. I felt symptoms before today but maybe it was the progesterone rise after ovulation, it’s still early and i should wait until 14 DPO but can’t help but think it hasn’t worked.
I really am hoping for a positive.
wish you all the best on your journey!

My doctor says that most people conceive on the third cycle on letrozole - not sure why!

I’ve conceived 3 times with it - cycle 1 at 31 (1 follicle), cycle 3 at 33 (3 follicles), cycle 1 at 37 (1 follicle). My doctor was shocked that it worked first time this time given my age and said it was really unusual.

@harrietm87 thankyou so much for sharing. That’s really good to hear 😊 amazing that is has worked three times for you
