I'm debating what approach to take dtd this week. I know I'll probably sound over the top in this post but please be gentle, it's coming off the back of trying again after losing my twin boys at birth so everything is a big step if that makes sense.

On the advice of my obestrician i stopped using opks. So I've been dtd every other day since end of my af. Working well and definitely less pressure on dh who was finding the every day approach of fertile week tough.

So we've basically dtd every 2 days. I caved and took an opk today as I've had loads of egcm too and i think im close to ovulation. So it's almost the same strength as the control line so I reckon I'm ovulating in 2 days.

Do I take the chance and keep doing every second day. Obestrician was adamant about allowing sperm to replenish and it's something I haven't tried before. I've definitely noticed dh has less fluid when it's been a load of days in a row where every two days has been quite good. I'm really torn.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your twin boys, I can't even begin to imagine what you've been through and are still going through. It's bound to make every step of TTC so challenging for you both.

I would personally stick with the every other day approach. I know my husband and I found every day very tough after 2 years TTC. I hated when we started to dread/resent it. Every other day was much more feasible.

Sperm can live for a number of days ready and waiting for you to release the egg so just remember that! And ovulation is never an exact science so I feel it's impossible to know for sure. But you're definitely covered by every other day. And don't stop just as soon as you think you've ovulated in case it's later than you think! Give it a few more days to be sure.

Best of luck OP

I'm so so sorry for your loss and sending you hugs.

I think every other day is definitely best/optimum for 1. sperm count and 2. pressure on DTD too often.

Your 'fertile window' is about 5-6 days with the two days leading up to ovulation and the day of ovulation being your 'peak' days, so you will defo be covered twice if not three times in your window if you're doing it every other day. Also if you get a peak on OPKs, ovulation could be 24-36 hours away, so every other day is definitely covering your bases... And sperm can live for up to five days.

Sending you loads of luck and baby dust.

OP, I am very sorry for your loss.

I would actually recommend what worked multiple for us - literally once per cycle on the day of ovulation.
That would take the pressure off your husband and it is important for supplies to replenish.

Thank you. I used to dtd for days into fertile week and it hasn't worked since losing my boys.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss ❤

My fertility specialist recommends every other day during the fertile period (to let the sperm regenerate and produce healthy sperm) so I'd say keep doing what you're doing 😊
