Hi,
I have been on a medicated protocol for my first FET. Started buserelin 0.5ml on 1st June, had down reg scan on 18th, all looked good, was told I had down regulated well. started oestrogen tablets (prognova) and was advised to then reduce buserelin to 0.25ml. I went back today for my endometrial scan, and was told I would be given a date for transfer. However I was told I had 2 large follicles on my ovaries, and the buserelin seemed to have stopped working. Lining looked great at 10.4mm.I had a blood test and my oestrogen was very high, over 400, so have been told this cycle must now be cancelled. They questioned whether I was giving myself the buserelin injection correctly, I explained I was following the schedule and technique which they said was correct. I feel so deflated that there is nothing that can be done. I have been told I can try again in a couple of months but wonder if I should have had more monitoring or bloods to pick up on this earlier? Would really appreciate anyone else’s experience xx

This is so hard for you. Buserelin gave me cysts as well which I had to have surgically removed before transfer. Did they offer this as an option? Do you have pcos by any chance? Are you private or NHS?

Thank you for replying! I am under an nhs clinic, they didn’t give the option to have them surgically removed and yes I have PCOS. I do wonder if the issue was reducing the buserelin but I guess will never know. Did you have much monitoring in the way of blood tests or scans? Or was this picked up late for you too?

I think I had quite a lot of monitoring. Weirdly I never got a diagnosis of pcos although I am sure I have it and it has contributed to our infertility. The cysts were removed under local anaesthetic shortly before transfer. Can you ask why they can't offer you this? Mine was NHS too. Good luck xx

@Wonderwall1988 why did they reduce the buserelin? I was on 0.5 the whole time; they never reduced it.

@theotherfossilsister i will definitely ask this. The consultant should be calling me within the next week for my review appointment.
@MerryBrickHelper I have no idea, that is just my clinics protocol. I took 0.5 until my down reg scan, then it once i started oestrogen they recommend reducing buserelin to 0.25. I will ask if I should stay on 0.5 if I do another cycle. Out of interest, when did you stop buserelin?

My last injection of it was the same night as my trigger shot. I am really surprised they lowered the dose…everything I read says it stays the same throughout cycle to keep the puritary gland in brain shut off xx
