Hello!

bit of a weird one! Feeling quite down in the dumps with this whole TTC thing (CP, long cycle, now CD2).

I want to just take my mind of things by having a big fat list of books to read - can be anything. Thrillers, romances, murder mysteries, a book that helped you through this journey, fantasy, your favourite ever book, etc.

hoping this thread also helps other people struggling and wanting to focus on something else ❤️

Completely understand ❤️

I have just finished A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara - it is really, incredibly sad but a beautiful book.

For some dark humour, I really recommend The Loved Ones by Evelyn Waugh. My late mum got it for me when I had my first break-up when I was a teenager.

My best friend's mum sent me a copy of The Tortoise and the Hare by Elizabeth Jenkins this year, I thought it was incredibly well written, mad and really surprising. Imagine a story where the potential "other woman" is your much older, frumpy next door neighbour.

@ridl14 thank you! Going to add these all to my list ❤️❤️

I've recently read Daisy May Cooper's autobiography 'Don't laugh it'll only encourage her ' - I don't know if you like her or not, but it was brilliant. Funny, addictive, serious in parts.

Although I listen to audiobooks, you can still find the books and read them.
Here is my list:

  1. Outlander (I like history and everything related to Scotland)
  2. (I like everything about Egypt) The red Pyramid, The throne of Fire, The Serpent's shadow
  3. Watership Down (someone strongly recommended it to me)
  4. The Last Kingdom Book Series (I like Viking)
  5. The Expanse Book Series written by James S.A. Corey (I like space)

This is a good idea @GreenPickle I have been struggling today following 1 MC and 1 MC ending up as partial molar. I have been struggling to concentrate on reading. But I like the idea above about audio books.

Not a book, but I’ve found bingeing greys anatomy on Disney+ has helped me escape reality - 20 seasons to get through too!

Thanks everyone! Will add these to my list. Will also add some of my own

  • I am pilgrim - Terry hayes
  • the seven deaths of Evelyn hardcastle - stuart turton

I will also be watching lots of true crime to get my mind off stuff!

Have just found out a close close friend is due when I would be and it has hit home a bit with having to see her pregnant and knowing that should have been me… will keep my distance until I’m ready

onwards and upwards 💪

Absolutely following this thread. I feel emotionally blocked (2 losses, one at 16 weeks and one at 12 weeks) so I need something sad to make the tears flow I think if anyone has anything.

pinkrose001 · 20/06/2024 15:53

Can highly recommend both Colleen Hoover & Freida McFadden books x

Anything by Sarah J Maas. The Maas universe has altered my brain chemistry (nor that I'm dramatic or anything). The Throne of Glass series is my favourite and A Court of Thorns and Roses series a close second. I couldn't put these books down. They're fantasy with a touch of romance (A Court of Thorns more than Throne of Glass). Also Fourth Wing and Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros. Also fantasy but a bit dark academia too.

I might try out the throne of glass one! I did start reading the court of thorn series but gave up on book 4 😩

im currently reading funny story by Emily Henry. So far, so good. A light read which is what I needed 🫶🫶
