Vitex, delayed O and line eyes!

Hi everyone. I am an older mum (41) trying to conceive baby number 4, first with my new husband.
I had no problems conceiving in the past however that was over 10 years ago.
We have been trying for over 6 months without success. I have recently added vitex to my supplement regime as my periods are irregular with mid cycle bleeding and breast pain which I have read could be related to low progesterone.
I have also decided to take a break from tracking (ov tests and temping) as it easy taking over my life. Now we BD for fun, every other day, sometimes every third day. My average day of ovulation would be CD 14. This month I did not have my usual post ovulation spotting, and my breasts didn't start hurting until CD 25 which is amazing for me.
My CM has definitely increased with the vitex but I didn't notice EWCM. I would occasionally feel a twinge during ovulation and I did not get that.
Normally by this stage I would be getting my pre AF spotting (CD 26) but nothing. If anything I am now drier than usual unlike the start of my cycle, sorry TMI but this is not like me.
My breasts are sore but in a very heavy way. I have had a sore throat and flu like symptoms which happened before BFP previously. I tested on CD 25 and today on 26 which would normally be around 10 and 11 dpo but BFN. I have zero signs AF is on the way.
I tested this morning and after 10 minutes there was a line but it is such a squinter I can only see it in certain lights. It has a little colour but very little. It didn't pick it up in the photo it is so faint.

I have read now that vitex can delay ovulation has anyone experienced this?

Also can someone put me out of my misery and tell me if I'm imagining this line. I know the sensible thing would be to wait a few days a test again but we all know that won't happen 🤣

I can see a line! Good luck and fingers crossed for a proper one in a couple of days.

NCgoingdry · 11/06/2024 15:33

I can see it - but it looks grey? Does it have colour in real life.

It does have a slight pink tinge to it, hard to pick up on camera. I'm using easy @ home and I have never had an evap line or a shadow before always stark white

So much in common here- nearly 40, ttc number 4 with new partner. I’m cycle 13 though
I started vitex 1000mg in April daily. Still no luck.

I definitely see a line there- hope it darkens for you. I’ve only had stark white on these tests
yes the vitex definitely stopped my pre af spotting and gave me sharper ovulation pains.

ive also got the 21 day bloods done at doctor which came back good- that maybe something to put your mind at ease for the progesterone levels as that was my worry as had a few chemicals which I’d never experienced before- although maybe never been such a big tester before either!

That's amazing to hear! I had done plenty of research before starting but now that I had no obvious O signs I have seen quite a lot of people experience huge delays with ovulation. The spotting stopping alone is reason enough for me to continue also no PMS symptoms but I am concerned about ovulation.
I think I may have had a chemical in March as well, very similar to this in that one test had a faint line although darker than this and the same day the spotting started which lead to full blown AF the next day. I tried to convince myself it was just a dud test.

Did you find it delays your ovulation at all?
I'm possibly clutching at straws here in hope that it's maybe just too early to test.

Well still no AF or bfp. Tests no darker, had one more absolute squinter but nothing since. AF officially late now and no spotting or signs it coming soon.
Have been reading lots that O was massively delayed so ordered ovulation tests which I will start tomorrow.
Losing hope that it has just been delayed O meaning it's too early to test and just want AF to come, obviously a BFP would be amazing.
Don't know whether to start vitex next after O rather than whole cycle as I've read so many conflicting theories
Pretty low today 😔

I started taking vitex (agnus castus) when TTC DD1 to actually regulate my cycle - and I think it finally brought on ovulation on what turned out to be a 146 day cycle (where the previous few had also been annovulatory). Then I started taking Levothyroxine for hypothyroidism too, as I'd just been diagnosed, and all subsequent cycles after that until my BFP 6 months later were sensible lengths (around 30 days) with clear signs of ovulation. So it's definitely not a given that vitex will delay things. Maybe it's more likely stress? My last wonky cycle when I ovulated on CD20 was during a horrible month, when I was anxious for a lot of it and getting very little sleep.

It didn’t delay my O but everyone is different
fingers crossed you find out soon one way or another.
im bfn today 10 dpo so im assuming im out
it may take the vitex a cycle or 2 to get into a rhythm

Thank you for your reply. I'm glad vitex has regulated your cycle. I think I just need to stop reading horror stories. It has done some good for me as I have had no spotting. I think I was looking for some hope that I'm not completely out this cycle. But based on my average O day from all the cycles I did track ovulation I would be around 13 dpo and still getting BFN so time to accept it's just not my month. Fully plan on tracking O again though next cycle. Trying not to lose hope but feel the clock ticking which is probably adding to my stress.

Thanks for that. I can't say for sure whether it did or not as I didn't test this month but just living in hope that I'm testing too early now and that's why I'm getting BFN but in reality it's just not my month. On one hand I would love to relax about the whole thing and let it happen but I guess I'm getting myself too working up at the thought it may never. I was going to take a few months off tracking O but I panic bought more tests so will start again next cycle.
10 dpo is still early though try again in a couple days. Fingers crossed for u

Just an update

I have been testing with both pregnancy and ovulation tests the past 3 days.
My LH is rising! I am so confused.
I haven't been temping this time but based on the past o tests it looks like my body is gearing up for ovulation?!
I am CD 30 and no sign of AF. O is normally between CD 13 and 15.

Vitex must have delayed it
