EWCM in different places in cycle, sorry if TMI!

Hello!

Sorry if this post is a bit TMI but struggling to find answers 🙈
Recently while TTC I’ve started to pay a lot more notice to my cervical mucus. I’ve noticed ewcm around about the time of ovulation which is great and expected. But my past cycle I noticed some way after ovulation, wondered if it was a brewing pregnancy, but no AF arrived.
This cycle I am currently cycle day 8 and have noticed it today. Now I do ovulate early generally between cycle days 11-13. Is this the start of my fertile mucus but is really early?
The other factor which is a bit TMI sorry is we BD’ed yesterday. It is just residual ✨stuff✨ I’m seeing? It is clear and stretchy though?

EWCM is the result of raised oestrogen. There is a big surge prior to ovulation (EWCM for several days in advance is typical) but also a smaller mid luteal surge. Getting some EWCM again is entirely normal in other words.

If you track BBT, this mid luteal oestrogen rise is also responsible for the temperature dip some people incorrectly say is the "implantation dip".

For some people the cervical mucus can increase for up to 4-5 days indicating the window. So your day 8 is possibly the start of the window. I say ‘some people’ because everyone varies in how much they see etc. some report only 1-2 days. Usually it starts off more watery for me for a few days and then becomes the stretchy ewcm for a day or two. I think when I have paid attention it has been 5-6 days in total.

I’m trying to watch it this cycle instead of using opk or bbt but I failed. Mostly because on the build up to ovulation I ended up with a sickness bug and a bad cold all in one go, so I can’t tell if I still ovulated or if that all paused it and pushed it back several days. Either way my dh then caught the bug so we essentially didn’t dtd in the right times. Now I’m just waiting for AF to try again next cycle.

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, sounds like hopefully my body is just doing it’s thing!

And I’m exactly the same, ditched the OPKs as was finding the testing and trying to time things more stressful so trying to pay more attention to my cervical mucus. Which is probably why I’m noticing these things earlier as I’m looking for them more. Just started to look at bbt but literally only taken my temp twice so far using is more of a science experiment 😆
