Hello I’m Charlotte,

35 and been TTC for 6 months, I took a hertility test and it flagged low thyroid and maybe PCOS so I’m looking to get me tested with ultrasound scan and also sperm test so we can work out what’s going on.

Does anyone have any recommendations of a private gyno for testing in London who could help with fertility issues.

My acupuncturist recommended Zita West who do IVF and are quite Chinese medicine based, but does anyone have any other good recommendations?

Side note: technically I could be preggo now but I threw a big chin spot and just cried about my birthday so I’m thinking not this month. Periods due in 2 days.

Whatever you do, don't do a basic bog standard fertility MOT that all these places churn out.

Do one that does FSH etc too (as well as the AMH, scan and semen). Vivienne Hall at Harley St Fertility Clinic is lovely.

You need a fertility clinic. I personally didn’t have a good experience of Zita West although to be fair that was some years ago now and the management has since changed. Have a look at Lister or Evewell.

Much sympathy as TTC can be hard. Although take heart that 6 months isn’t that long and hypothyroid is very easily treated.

I'd also recommend a monthly cycle monitoring too

Thank you yeh that’s my inclination to go for a fertility clinic I’m finding Accupuncture really helpful for general well-being like checking in on stuff and monitoring but I think I need someone who knows a bit more medically.

The hertility test did amh, fsh, thyroid etc but I’m looking for scans too to cover all bases as well as sperm checks. I’ll have a look at your recommendations.

im just not a very patient person tbh which I’m trying to be! I think I’ll feel better knowing what’s under the hood.

You need to get the thyroid treated before spending money and emotional energy on anything else. That could well be the issue.

Lister or Portland have both been recommended to me - helped friends to get to the bottom of subfertility

@eurochick thank you I’ve now spoken to my GP whose doing

  • thyroid check
  • ultrasound
  • progesterone test

To cover my bases and see what’s wrong.

@CharLdn - no, no, no. Their cycle monitoring is very different. You go in on Day 1, they take bloods, maybe ultrasound, you then repeat this at various stages at your cycle, checks LH, FSH, and progesterone etc
