Took a test and can’t tell whether it’s negative or positive…

Can anyone see a second line or am I overthinking? If so, is it possibly just an ‘evaporation line’?

This is a very tricky situation where either a positive or negative test would have a huge impact on my life. I therefore beg for honest answers over just optimistic answers, where people say they can see a line but are just being nice.

A negative test could potentially be the better outcome currently for my family and existing children and the care they require.

So basically is there a second line there visible or not? Honest answers much preferred over answers that might seem more popular either way!!

Looks like an evap. How soon did it come up? When is your period due?

LolaJ87 · 30/05/2024 14:55

I can see it but tbh I don't know why these tests are still sold because they have such a high rate of evaps. Get a pink dye test, even a pack of the cheapie strips from poundland and test again - that way you'll have a proper answer.

Posornegative · 30/05/2024 14:57

my period is due in 3/4 days. I was rushing this morning so took the test and it appeared negative after a quick 10 second glance. Then got back from drop-off at activity camp for kids and it appeared to have a line there (maybe 25/30 mins later).

Still so undecided and I realise I can only be super certain by waiting until my period and testing then but I’m desperate to have some idea what outcome to expect beforehand.

I definitely see a line, and obviously a few days before your period is due it would be very faint. But these tests have so many evaps, agree with pp that it’s crazy they’re still sold (and so popular). Get a pink dye one. I just got a load of cheap ones on Amazon that worked brilliantly.

Rosiejj5 · 30/05/2024 15:02

Hello

i can genuinely see a second line on that personally x

teatimeplease · 30/05/2024 15:02

I would go and get a few pink dye cheapies from home bargains or similar- they were the best for me!

Posornegative · 30/05/2024 15:04

As soon as I can tomorrow will go out and get pink dye tests. Assuming I can just get them in Superdrug?

what freaked me out reading about evap lines is that apparently they’re usually clear/colourless. The very thin faint line on this test is definitely tinged with blue.

I’m so conflicted and confused about whether if it’s just a think partial faint line it counts as positive anyway? More pics to try and show colour

So hard to tell id nip to your local chemist and get a different brand x

@Posornegative there is a thread on this forum with over 300 posts where people are analysing Clearblue lines. Sometimes they are evaps, sometimes they are early positives. It is a mindfuck. Link here if you're interested:

Superdrug should have some yeah, or maybe order some for next day delivery from Amazon?

It’s too thin and only on the bottom half so I’m sure it’s an evap.

OnePinkDuck · 30/05/2024 20:25

It looks like a line to me. I think any ambiguity go out and check with a different brand tomorrow.

Posornegative · 06/06/2024 17:41

Just in case this is helpful to any future clear blue users - the test was negative. My period was 4/5 days late (so I retested several times) and they came back negative.

I finally got my period today! Will know not to use clearblue brand from now on with evap lines. Annoyingly it seems to be the only one sold in my local shop!

Thank you for everyone who took the time to reply or vote :) I appreciated the reassurance

I'm pretty confident this is negative but some extra eyes can't hurt 🙈 16dpo

I can’t see a second line there, but only looking on a small phone screen! Hopefully my reply bumps this somewhat and other people can look too

Thank you for letting me piggy back off your post. I'm pretty confident it was negative but the more I looked, the more I got line eyes so just needed someone to say they don't see anything 😂
