Success after a chemical pregnancy?

Hi everyone,

I've just had a chemical pregnancy (or what I believe to be one), strong positive at 11dpo on multiple different tests including a digital, but the lines got fainter as the days went on, still no sign of my period yet but my tests are now barely visible.

I just want some positive stories, I am crushed. I thought this was my chance to have it snatched away from me, my heart is broken 💔

I am really sorry it happened to you. There are some people who also just had or are experiencing CP and I have been trying to share my experience and BBT/LH charts with them here because I also had the same experience earlier this month.
I just realised I answered your thread previous however I will share my charts here.

Spinkyttc · 29/05/2024 12:11

I would love to hear your story. I got my very first positive at 10dpo. Lines darker over the next few days, had a positive clearblue and then by 14dpo the tests started getting fainter. Currently 16dpo, was due on 2 days ago but no period yet and tests are barely visible now. Just waiting to bleed x

You will get a heavy period, some people only bleed for 4 days.
I bled heavily for 3 days then had some spotting for 4 days.
It is better to use BBT and LH to monitor your cycle. There is also a lovely lady who had CP one week earlier than me and today is her first time to get her LH peak and she thinks today is 9 dpo. So we don't know what is happening to her. She could be ovulating tomorrow or get her AF!
Fee free to ask me any questions!
My LH and BBT were not consistent at all until 4 days before my LH peak.
So if you are measuring BBT, you will find that it is going to stay elevated for 7 + days from CP.

My BBT dropped dramatically on the day when I started to bleed so I think you might start bleeding tonight or tomorrow morning. I started to bleed in the evening.

Hi, just hopping on to say I’m so sorry for what you’re experiencing. I recently had a miscarriage due to ectopic, so whilst it wasn’t a chemical I had the exact same hope, happiness, and excitement, for a couple of days before feeling like it was all taken away.
Everyone is different of course, but really do prepare for the bleed, emotionally and physically. It will most likely be more than a period - make sure you have a stack of pain killers and heat patches/hot water bottles. I had an electric belt wrap and it was honestly a life saver. I bled super heavy the first day, and then for 4 days after it was like a regular period. Wishing you the best x

I'm sorry to hear this. My main worry was having an ectopic. What were your symptoms if you don't mind me asking? I am now 4 weeks and just starting to bleed so think this is it x

I tested positive the day before my missed period, and then 2 days later I started having pains in my right groin only, deep in the groin rather than abdomen. I went to my GO as was concerned it was ectopic and my GP referred me to the EPU where they confirmed pregnancy of unknown location with most likely being attached to my ovary. After a week, when I think I was exactly 6 weeks, i started the miscarriage. I would say if you’re concerned it’s ectopic just be aware of pain on only one side, and if you have any shoulder tip pain to go straight to a&e. After the bleeding has stopped, take pregnancy tests sporadically to check that you show up as not pregnant (digital will be better with this). This is to check all the pregnancy has gone as sometimes it can be retained and will need either longer to pass, or medication/surgery. you can also get blood tests from your GP if needed (I had blood tests with my EPU to confirm non-pregnancy) x

I am now 3 days late and just started to bleed, cramps feel normal so far. I'm hoping it was a chemical and not ectopic. X

So sorry you're going through this. I had a chemical pregnancy in March last year and just felt completely dejected and devastated by it. I did start to feel more positive after the bleeding stopped (think it was about 4 days for me) and I ovulated a bit later than usual on that cycle but did get pregnant again and now have a 5 month old daughter. Hoping all works out for you next time xxx

Hayl777 · 29/05/2024 17:37

So sorry for your loss OP.
I recently had an ectopic and my tests stayed positive until it was removed even after a heavy bleed.
I have also had an early miscarriage and like you have experienced my tests suddenly got lighter and the day i bled it was unfortunately negative.
I would advise that you test after the bleeding has stopped.
Take care of yourself x

How many weeks were you when you had your ectopic? I'm currently bang on 4 weeks, 16dpo and just started with cramping and spotting so think this is it. I always had concerns about my tubes being damaged due to a chlamydia infection in my early 20s but I did have a Hycosy a few months ago which showed my tubes were clear. I hope it was a chemical and the pregnancy was in the right place x

I was 6weeks when it first caused issues but nearly 7 weeks when it ruptured.
Take time to grieve x

@mushroom28 sorry to jump in! Sorry about your loss ❤️

I had a CP last cycle and was wondering how much longer your ovulation was? I had my surge last month on CD20 (32 day cycles) and this month.. CD30! I imagine I’m in for a long cycle xx

So how would I know if this is a chemical and it's in the right place? I hate not knowing 😢 x

OP posts:
Hayl777 · 29/05/2024 19:17

It is most likely to be a chemical.
Do you have acute pain? Any shoulder tip pain? Dizziness? Those are the signs of a chemical. Also if your tests are reducing/turned neg it would suggest that it isn’t a developing pregnancy in the wrong place.
Give ur local EPU a ring if you have any concerns.

I have no pains like that, just usual cramping and bleeding has begun in full swing now 💔 x

Sorry can’t see how to Edit but that should have read those are the signs of an Ectopic.
