Pregnancy after chemical loss

Hi guys,
I’m trying for my second child & just had a chemical pregnancy (I’m calling it this as it just came out naturally although I was slightly over 5 weeks)

those of you who already have a baby - and had a loss when trying for your second - how long did it take? X

Probably not what you want to hear! But we started trying for our next child 15 months ago, when DD was 1 years old. I’ve had two losses in that time (one CP & one MMC) and now doing IVF.
I always assumed that having another would be simple as I got pregnant so easily before.
Hopefully that won’t be the case for you, I think iI’m just getting old as was 39 when started trying this time.

Ah that sounds tough 😫.
I know ! All the mums I was friends with after my first one are all finding it harder to get pregnant this second time around too I’d just assumed it was easier 🙈.
Did the GP / NHS do much to help or did you have to go private? X
I’m 32 & had a MMC when trying for my first as well! He’s 18 months now x

Yeah, all my ‘mum friends’ that I met through my DD are struggling to have their second children, I guess everyone is a couple years older 🤷‍♀️ I think it just takes more time.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My second pregnancy was a chemical pregnancy at around the 5 week mark too. I was desperate to conceive again after, and was really lucky to do so quickly. I had one short cycle in between the loss & conceiving the pregnancy I'm now 6 months along with. I think it was about 7 weeks between the loss & conceiving again.

Delighted to be having another little boy soon but I wish I was a little kinder to myself in the grieving in-between stage. I think sometimes the words "chemical pregnancy" instead of miscarriage doesn't reflect the fact it was still a loss of something hoped for. ❤️

Hi guys :) hope it’s okay for me to jump in. I’m TTC my second as well, I’m unsure if I had a chemical last month? I had 2 vvfls on two different brands at 11dpo but then came on my period the next day (3 days early) so I’m not sure what happened, can a chemical make your period early or maybe they were indents!

The next cycle!

wizzbitt · 27/05/2024 16:43

It happened a few months later for me too. I was 38. (Had my second at 42).

Sorry for your loss 🌺

Ofc it’s okay 😃.
it could well have been a chemical my love! It’s hard to tell sometimes. Chemicals are before 5 weeks mine was slightly over at 6 weeks so was very heavy and clotty!
some of the really really early ones are hard to tell with.
fingers crossed for you next cycle though z

Thanks so much for replying, yeah it was definitely more clotty than usual. Not sure what it’ll mean for my cycle this month but we’ll see! Sending baby dust to you all x
