Right, so I can't start this thread using anything like..."Here we go ladies!"

So, will have to come up with something completely different....

How about Congratulations Kay!

not that hands-on ...more, able assistant for a sheep with a prolapse and holding lambs whilst they get jabbed and tagged and sprayed...or something!

kayzisexpecting · 09/04/2008 20:15

Poor sheep.
I love lambs, quite annoyed I cant go help my friend with the orphaned ones this year. I missed out for most of last year too.

calsworld · 09/04/2008 22:13

AF was due today but hasn't appeared yet. Been quite emotional up till now though which is standard PMT for me...I think AF is lurking sneakily round the corner and will probably pounce whilst I'm in my bosses car tomorrow driving to Kent!

Must dash to bed as knackered so will catch up properly on Friday / Saturday - sooner if there's anything exciting to tell of course!!

Had a fab time at Alton towers waterpark this morning - DS loved it, very excited by all the water and I think also the time spent with DH and I. Brilliant value for money!

Must dash, being nagged! Take care all, x

Good morning all

Period gone gone gone, had a lovely GOF just for fun, just thought I'd share LOL We managed all night without beer Must admit it was harder than I thought it would be! Both of us kept reaching for drinks that weren't there, I think we drank our own body weights in tea..... yum

Cal, have you tested yet? Am keeping my fingers crossed for you, let us know ASAP!!

Someone honk Diege's horn please, I am getting very impatient now, I think we all need to take a commitment oath or vow or some sort of pact. We can not allow this lack of information. It is not in the name of the thread!

I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE THAT FROM THE DAY MY PERIOD IS DUE I WILL UPDATE WITH AT LEAST HOURLY REPORTS OF GOINGS ON, I SHALL NOT LEAVE YOU ALL DANGLING FOR INFORMATION, AND I SHALL SATISFY YOUR NOSINESS AT EVERY AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITY.

Anyone else care to join me in my surefire contractual pact?

kayzisexpecting · 10/04/2008 09:28

What do you think?

I don't know what to do.

Diege · 10/04/2008 09:34

Sorry, sorry!!! That horn has been ringing out across Warrington, and people have been banging on my front door...I came as fast as I could .
Well, before I had a chance to test again (though I did have wee-pot att the ready) af started, sod's law . So no surprises, and now into first official month of trying!!!!!
Haven't even attempted catching up on news I'm afraid - last two days have been at work 6.30am-to 7pm - too boring to explain! At least I have a fighting chance to keep up today as I'm collapsing working from home, albeit witha trip to the hairdressers thrown in for good measure!
A bit concerned about sickness if I get pregnant this month, but then when it's always going to be a factor, and I'm already missing out June cos of hols end of July/August.
Also determined to lose a few pounds as even though I'm a size 8/10, my muffin top is taking on a life of its own .
Sorry for the me-post - will try and skim through everyone's news

kayzisexpecting · 10/04/2008 09:39

Sorry about af Diege. Fingers crossed for this month

Diege · 10/04/2008 09:39

Kay, Kay, I know the answer to the champagne thing, I do!!!! Don't know if I've mentioned my job, but I'm a uni lecturer/medical sociologist, and when I was at the Conference in Warwick a few weeks ago, we had a paper from the research team that advises the gov on pregnancy and drinking. Apparently, the only reason they say abstain from alcohol in pregnancy is because they think women don't understand the unit system , and therefore even though there is absoloutely no scientific grounding whatsoever in the no alcohol rule, they said it just to cover themselves in case women interpret a few units a week to mean a good old binge . We were all very criticial of this, as you can imagine, and the researchers themselves are now starting to feel the flack - . So err yes, one glass of champagne is more than fine

kayzisexpecting · 10/04/2008 09:42

Everyone else is saying no. Not even 1 glass
I had a far few glasses in the first 4 weeks of my pregnancy with ds and he is fine.(I also got very very drunk on my hen night as I didnt know I was pg)

Diege · 10/04/2008 09:46

You must do what you feel best Kay, but really I've heard the opposite from the people who did the study which must surely help a bit? I have noted that some posters have this sort of 'hmm, not sure about that so yes, leave it/don't do it approach'. Same with hair colouring, which is totally fine in pregnancy (unless you paint it all over your body and leave on for 12 hours a day, for 6 weeks like they did to the rats in the study), but you still hear people saying, hmmm, yes, no evidence, but probably best to avoid 'just to be safe...'' Really pisses me off actually!! Rant over

kayzisexpecting · 10/04/2008 09:50

I personally dont think 1 glass of champagne isn't going to do the slightest bit of damage.

If alcoholics and drug addicts can have healthy babies surely I can if I have 1 glass.

Diege · 10/04/2008 09:53

EXACTLY!!! The last post on the your other thread does exactly what I hate 'yes, there's no medical/scientific advice to avoid it...it's all about making sure hormonal women don't think one unit means 20, yadda yadda, so yes, avoid it in the first trimester???? You are right - a single glass, even a bloomin bottle over a week won't do any harm whatsoever - enjoy!!

NatalieJane · 10/04/2008 09:55

Kay, I think the main problem with drinking alcohol in pregnancy is the whole Infant Alcohlism thingymebob, which only occurs when you are downing bottles of vodka like it's water. One glass of champers is not going to do any harm what so ever.

I have drunk throughout all of my pregnancies, up to a bottle of wine a week, though not every week! (I know that sounds really bad, but bareing in mind you only get 4 glasses in a bottle, that is like 2 glasses on a Saturday night (you have to, it's the law!!! ) a glass on a Tuesday and a glass on a Thursday). Both of mine went full term, and more, to good weights, and were the easiest babies ever, neither of them could even be bothered to cry when they were born, and they haven't changed much since!

Seriously, I really wouldn't worry about having a glass, or even two!

Diege Sorry about your period, but as you say first offical month of TTC'ing, it's exciting isn't it?!! Bloody hell, that horn works though doesn't it?!!!!! LOL

kayzisexpecting · 10/04/2008 09:56

I will do it. I'm personally more worried that if the morning sickness stays that I'll be sick on there.

NatalieJane · 10/04/2008 09:57

Will the champers be on ice in the bucket? Just make sure you empty the ice out at ground level

YouCantTeuchThis · 10/04/2008 10:00

Kay, just to echo what these wise women are saying Oh, and take a poly bag with some kitchen roll/napkins in, in case you are sick!!

Diege - I know you are not surprised but sorry anyway, and roll on official TTC!!

Tink - you still haven't told us what your chart means

Cal...fingers crossed.

Diege · 10/04/2008 10:02

Hi Nat! Yes, can't believe it's our official 'going live' time . I think it seems like I've been trying since I joined the thread if you see what I mean!
Kay - let's hope the sickness fades after all that! TBH, even the sight of a glass of champagne would have made me heave during my pregnancies - would be sod's law if it were the same for you! Having said that, I do remember having a glass or 2 on my wedding day when I was 24 weeks!

Diege · 10/04/2008 10:04

Thanks Teuch . Oh and a 'logistics' question that I know everyone asks but I can;t remember the answer. Started spotting last night, and proper af today - does that mean it's CD1 today, or CD2??

Playingthewaitinggame · 10/04/2008 10:08

Morning all, not had time to post yet this week as I am actually having to do work at work!! I know what you're all thinking, the god damn cheek, actually having to do work at work and not having time to surf on MN, I agree, i think I might bring it up in my review later on in the month.

Not really had time to catch up properly, SORRY!

Kay - I'd go for the glass of champagne personally. I have no plans of giving up alcohol completely during pg, I will savour my one glass a week (unless of course I am too sick and cant drink it)! In fact I am seriously proud of myself, I have gone 3 whole days in a row without a drink this week, thats unheard of in the Playing household, I like my glass or three of wine a night.

tinkerbellbringingsexyback · 10/04/2008 10:09

hi k one glass is fine trip sounds great!!
