Easy at home tests

So I'm so confused
I'm on cycle day 16 and had a CP last month, followed by a negative test x2.
I just accidentally did a HCG instead of LH test and it was slightly positive but it was another brand that we'd questioned last month, I did a easy at home that I'd bought for this month and I think it's positive.
How can this even be possible? What are the chances of false positives on them?

How weird, could you have ovulated early?

Eatsleepbakerepeat · 21/05/2024 20:11

So these are my tests. I've freaked out and done about 100000, I have no idea, but these all look positive?! After 3 miscarriages since January I'm now convinced that there's something wrong with me and I'm producing false hcg

They are definitely positive!! I know it's hard but all you can do over the next few days is to keep testing to check that they gradually get darker.

I just don't see how I can be so so early in my cycle?!

The ovulation test will also pick up HCG which is why you can get positives on both at the same time. So either you are pregnant (but seems really unlikely from the timeline you've put) or it is still hormone from your chemical pregnancy (and the negatives tests before were the anomaly).

I just don't understand how it could be positive so early in my cycle

You can't be really, unless your dates are wrong. Are you counting cd1 as the start of your miscarriage? Or an actual period? X

The day I started bleeding I had a CP so my period was a couple of days late then started
What would another explanation be of all the positives if I'm not?!

It's probably just that the HCG hasn't left your system yet (think this is the most likely as false positives are rare, much easier to get a false negative which may have been the other tests you did after your chemical). But it's really hard seeing a positive test when you're pretty sure you're not pregnant - I hated waiting for negatives after my miscarriage.

But I've had my negatives I had 2 and one at the GP and my positive with my MC was never this strong?!
I just don't get it :(

That's really weird. Any chance it wasn't a miscarriage?! If it wasn't you'd now be about 6-7 weeks in which case if you collect a strong wee sample, test it, and then dilute it to a weak wee and retest with a new test it may give a stronger result due to the hook effect.

Eatsleepbakerepeat · 21/05/2024 21:38

But post bleeding I bad a negative test?
I mean I have no idea at this point
I'm hoping I can speak to EPU tomorrow or my GP and maybe get a scan to shed some light

@Eatsleepbakerepeat that sounds like a good idea. It's not making much sense at the moment! If you get answers and are happy to please would you update? I want to know how it's possible now 🙈

Of course
From doing some research it is possible potentially, apparently CP can change ovulation
So I could have ovulated CD 10 or 11 and be 8dpo now
It does however seem a strong positive for that
I 100% am not classing myself as pregnant and will see what they say tomorrow
Thanks for your suggestions and advice tonight

I'm wondering if maybe it wasn't a CP - how heavy was the bleed? You can bleed at 4 weeks and still be pregnant. What brand were your negative tests? As a PP said, maybe they were the anomaly?

Because these tests do look pos..

Hoping you get the outcome you want!

imy · 22/05/2024 10:11

I really think you must have ovulated early. You could definitely get a positive like this at 9DPO for example. Have you tested today?

spannered · 22/05/2024 10:16

Sorry for your losses OP, this must be causing a lot of stress! I hate the term "retained products" to describe pregnancy tissue, but could it be that it wasn't all removed when you had your chemical and it's causing you to produce HCG?

Second this too, that's what my tests looked like at 9DPO x

TheShellBeach · 22/05/2024 10:20

What date did you first start bleeding last month?

allgoodthings84 · 22/05/2024 10:37

i had 2 CP’s in a row and they messed with my following cycles ovulation so you may have ovulated earlier than usual. On my successful pregnancy (the cycles right after the 2 CPs) my lines were much darker than this at 11dpo (my first test) so would likely have been like this early on. Both my cps I tested negative just before bleeding (both happened at just turned 6 weeks) so I don’t think the hormone tends to hang around for long when such an early loss so if you’ve had negative tests I wouldn’t say it’s left HCG from before. It won’t be that you didn’t have the loss either or the tests would be much much darker and you wouldn’t have had the negatives in between.

basically I think you ovulated very early because of the CP and it’s a new pregnancy and to test again tomorrow to see if darker etc

Springadorable · 22/05/2024 12:11

Yeah given that you could be Dpo 9 I think you might be pregnant again 🤞 any tests from today? X

Eatsleepbakerepeat · 22/05/2024 13:15

Thank you all for your messages and support my head is a shed so it's much appreictaedd!

I had 3 negative tests after CP so think that is so unlikely
Spoke to EPU this morning and they're getting me in for a scan tomorrow, my scan in January was clear so I don't have any crazy tumours like I convinced myself last night! But they aren't sure if it's from my April cycle or my may cycle, I bled on 6th April and 6th May classed them both as AF one post CP

I think I could have ovulated early cos I do remember thinking my CM was different but didn't think much of it and my BTT has been low so thought nothing of it! But who knows
The midwife said I'm clearly pregnant hut they need to figure out when and where
So tomorrow they'll scan and do HCG bloods
I'm trying to not get excited whilst keeping everything crossed
