Clear Blue or Easy@Home OPK? Which is more accurate?

Hi all,

Been TTC for nearly two years now and have been unsuccessful due to different health reasons of my DH. We are now ready to finally make it happen. To be sure we timed it right, I got the Clear Blue Digital Ovulation test and the easy@home strips. The CB test indicated peak fertility last Wednesday (used first morning urine). I tested later that day with the strips which gave me an LH of 0.18. I kept testing with the strips and only got my peak yesterday. Has anyone else had this? How can one give a peak on Wednesday and the other one the Monday after? Which one should you trust?
This is really frustrating me 😩

A thread after my own heart!

so, I’ve been TTC for 2 months - April and May. I had a miscarriage in April (chemical) so used the first day of the bleed as CD1.

April:

static smiley on CD17 (1 day of flashing) but e@h surged on CD20.

May:

static smiley on CD13 (no days of flashing)
e@h… not sure 😂 potentially CD17 but I didn’t test in the evening OR overnight on CD19/CD20 (wish I did a test during the day!). Have added pics!

I can’t really help with your question, I’m currently on CD22 and still testing and I have no idea what’s going on!

I did use my e@h surge last month as my ‘official’ one and had a faint line 10dpo from that (but also could have been 13dpo according to CB lol).

I think I’ll take a pregnancy test 1st/2nd June as that’s 2 weeks from all high LH and a couple of days after my period is due! I learnt from last month not to test too early or too much 😩😂

sorry the long message!

Would love to hear from other people too 😇😇

It's just so frustrating and gives me no confidence. You would think they all test LH levels so how can they be so far off?
We dtd based on both but no idea if either is correct at this point 😂
I'd also love to hear from others as surely we can't be the only ones.

yeah I have no idea what’s going on! I’ve tried searching it but nothing really helped me.

if it doesn’t work out for me next month, I’m going to use the rest of my CB and then maybe get the pink one (2 fertile days).

we can only do what we can do and can’t really change anything, and now it’s a waiting game 😂

when do you plan on testing? I’m hoping the CB static being so early has helped with timing as dtd pretty much every day for 2 weeks 🤞😅

mrstaylor9 · 21/05/2024 10:43

@GreenPickle you're right if only the waiting game wasn't so painful 😂

According to e@h my ovulation is today (peak yesterday). So I'm not sure if I just wait for missed period or if I do the CB 6 days early test. Depends on how patient I can be. 😂 i feel like I should just wait and let it go and let it happen but it's so hard as I feel like I'm running out of time. I'm 37 now so the clock really is ticking 😢

The CB 6 day early (digital one with the light) is what gave my BFP last month so it’s v good!

I think I was 12dpo when I took it but there’s always a risk it’s too early and it might be a chemical (which are more common than I thought!). I think because of last month, I’d rather not know 😂 but I was obsessively taking the e@h ones because I got them with my OPKs but ran out so I don’t have the temptation!

it seems you’ve done everything in terms of timing (one more DTD won’t hurt!) and now… you wait 😂

do whatever is right for you!

Blue2020 · 21/05/2024 16:22

My personal experience- I tried both in July 2022 and the clear blue kept telling me I was ready to ovulate or at peak ovulation when the easy@home and bbt both said low. Then 6 days later the easy@home had a peak, then a few days later the bbt confirmed I had ovulated. So I decided to only use easy@home. In the August I got the peak, then a few days later the bbt temp rise. I conceived that cycle and have ds because of it. I say that because I ovulated late and would have given up dtd 6 days before that if I went by my natural signs (ewcm).

The bbt gave me the reassurance that I had ovulated. Obviously only after the fact but it was good to know I had.

We have just started ttc for number 2, but only just come off the pill.

Jumping on here as I think we’re on very similar journeys! Tried a few half hearted cycles last year and no success, first cycle trying again this year (April) we fell pregnant! Unfortunately it turned out to be ectopic, and I miscarried 29th - so am also using that day as my refresh and currently on CD23. I haven’t tracked ovulation though, but from flo (which has been accurate from history) I ovulated CD17. If I’m not successful this cycle, I was looking at tracking ovulation for future so would be helpful to know which tests you end up finding most accurate!

mrstaylor9 · 21/05/2024 19:26

@GreenPickle awww yes totally understand. 💛 Have my fingers crossed for you and hope it all works out this time and it all falls into place for you. I think in my case the worrying and anxiety doesn't work and had so many bfns that I just don't want this disappointment again and cling on to hope a little longer. 🥹

@Ksh5460 sorry about your loss!

I do find ovulation tracking helpful. I’m still trying to figure out what time the@h strips work for me. I usually do FMU which is advised against but I find my wee throughout the day is diluted and I was so dehydrated last month!

i think I’d always use them together - I like the CB digital because I think it’s super sensitive and shows the start of a surge (with the static) whereas the strips show the actual surge so it can be quite tough on timing.

they were about a week out from each other thing month (if I even ovulated at all) but I think my cycle is just a bit odd because of the CP

i know some people do temping but i think add anything else in will just stress me out!

I would like to try the pink CB digitals as I don’t think the flashing on the purple one adds anything for me as we have sex pretty frequently anyway!

I’m not even really sure when I ovulated but I plan to only test after AF is due now!

GreenPickle · 21/05/2024 19:28

@mrstaylor9 please keep the thread updated when you test! ❤️

rooting for you too! We got this 💪

mrstaylor9 · 21/05/2024 19:30

@Blue2020 thank you so much this is really helpful. So would you say if e@h says peak that ovulation may not necessarily be the following day? I haven't monitored bbt but am considering to start with my next cycle. But just wondering if we should keep trying as i'm hoping I ovulated today and can have a break from dtd 😂

Easy at home have always been bang on for me. I've had four cycles of trying which resulted in three pregnancies.

mrstaylor9 · 21/05/2024 19:35

@GreenPickle I definitely will and you keep me updated too please! Rooting for you too! 💪🏼 💛

Rather than spending money on unnecessary ovulation strips that are not accurate maybe you should follow NHS advice to have sex every 2 to 3 days throughout your cycle.

Blue2020 · 21/05/2024 20:33

@mrstaylor9 Im not certain because it also says it can take a day or so for the temp to raise to mean ovulation occured. So I got a peak lh on the Sunday late afternoon and it was still a bit raised the Monday morning. Then my temp rose by the Wednesday morning. So I assumed I ovulated at some point on the Monday. I can only estimate really. I took the temp at 6am each morning.

Blue2020 · 21/05/2024 20:36

@mrstaylor9 oh just to add we did every 2-3 days (typically 3 days) until I got the bbt temp increase. So you have hopefully covered the window anyway.

Or maybe when people have other kids or other things going on in their life it's hard enough finding two days a month to have sex let alone the stress of every other day?!
