Cycle day 40 (period week late) brown spotting

hey new here! TTC
basically I’m on cycle day 40 (not sure when I ovulated as ran out of test strips at day 21) normally the longest my cycle is is 34 days.
so I’m a week late, no period, mild cramps for the past week (don’t normally have them) easily irritated but negative tests. Now have brown spotting only when I wipe did have some red and thought my period started but nope now back to brown. My temp did start dropping 2 days ago.
this is a headfuvk anyone been in this situation? Help please

Sounds like an irregular period. Extended cycle leading to higher progesterone levels which would explain irritability and potentially the cramping.

Considering test is negative and there's spotting I'd just wait to AF to show, it'll come eventually. If the irregular cycles become a recurring issue then of course, speak to doc.

Brown spotting can mean your period is about to start. I've had this before I was day 56 and it was just a really strange irregular period. I think if you were pregnant, it would've shown up by now.
