Period cramps way before period due? Implantation?

Hi - looking for some advice.

Has anyone else had strong cramping before their period is due? I'm very regular and due on my period next Wednesday, but I've had cramping all last week. It's been quite intense! Normally I just get a bit of cramping the day of my period or the day before. Could it be implantation?

The weird thing is, the cramping has now kinda stopped today. So I'm super confused! Not really any other symptoms, other than I'm bloated (what's new?!) and a bit headachey for past few days.

Me and my husband did the deed around my ovulation which was a week ago last Sunday or Monday, which would make me 7 days DPO approx.

I can't bear to test yet as I don't want to be disappointed and get my hopes up in case it's a BFN!

@KittyFantastica I hope you don't ovulate early. I'm on cd 3, period has been non existent today it's so annoying.

I think I'll be nightshift on the run up to ovulation which isn't ideal but will somehow try to dtd.

Looks like early ovulation and another super short cycle for me @jellyfish2
My surge has started already and it's only CD9 😭

Fingers crossed for you!

Great progression @Tally89, glad to see it :)

Oh that's great your lines are progressing well and that you're getting a scan. Hopefully all will be fine and it's just general early pregnancy aches and twinges.

Hi - thanks for checking in. Got some nice progression on the tests (see pic).

However, I am a little scared as I have an early pregnancy scan next week to make sure the baby is in the right place because of my history of ectopic where I lost my right tube.

So, I am anxious :/ now I keep thinking I am having pain on my left side which is the side with the remaining tube. But then I have a bit of pain on the right too. I think that's normal right? (I hope!)

Those tests are looking really good OP!

What day is your scan?

thanks @PinkFrogss - scan next Thursday. I rly hope this little one is in the right place this time! It's so tricky to know which twinges and pains to worry about. I did read that quite a few women get ovary pain on the side they ovulated from and pain from where the womb is stretching so hopefully that's what my aches are.

HI, mind if I join?

Congratulations @Tally89 !! The rest, hopefully we can get our BFP vv soon.

I have a long menstrual cycle (40-44 days). But last cycle was 27 days. Today is my CD35. I had a few symptoms on and off however no EWCM. Thought I had my ovulation on CD16 but when i tested on CD31, the test was negative.

I need to wait till 10 June for 1 day after AF due to check again.

KittyFantastica · 31/05/2024 08:38

I had two positive OPKs yesterday, but BBT is baseline and actually went slightly lower than yesterday, so haven't confirmed ovulation. The MMC is messing with my cycle so much still 3 months on :(

jellyfish2 · 31/05/2024 10:13

@KittyFantastica I don't do the temping thing because I work shifts but does that mean you definitely haven't ovulated? It's so stressful isn't it.

KittyFantastica · 31/05/2024 11:00

@jellyfish2 As far as I understand it, BBT is the only way to actually confirm ovulation (other than falling pregnant!) but it can obviously only be confirmed after it's happened. Whereas OPKs can help indicate as and when it's happening.

I suspect I've had a dummy run! My ClearBlue monitor still says 'High' and it's usually really good at detecting the peak. so I recon it's all gearing up and I'll either ovulate in a few days, or it will be an anovulatory cycle and AF will arrive early again.

Highly recommend the monitor btw. They're pricey and the sticks for it are ridiculously expensive, but I've conceived both times I've used it when my cycle was my 'normal.' I bought mine second hand off eBay for half the price with a load of unused sticks. Well worth it.

jellyfish2 · 31/05/2024 14:59

@KittyFantastica I just use the easy at home ones, I conceived first time with my successful pregnancy and the miscarriage pregnancy which is why I'm worried it's not happened yet. Can only assume hormones haven't fully settled maybe? Monitoring temp won't work for me because of my shifts otherwise I would do that too.

Hey @jellyfish2 @KittyFantastica update from me:

Ended up having a MC. Ended up in A&E with cervical shock and they had to perform a procedure to help me. Incredibly painful and sad. Little one was in the right place though and wasn't ectopic.

Trying to find hope for the future.

So sorry to see this @Tally89 that must have been very traumatic. Take time for yourself and give yourself a lot of patience and TLC. Do you have some support around you at home?

No update from me, sadly. I'm 99% sure I'm having another anovulatory cycle. I'm booked in for blood tests on Monday. I don't know if my cycle will ever go back to normal.
