PCOS, Metformin and spotting

Hi All,

I have PCOS (my bmi is in healthy range), been ttc for couple of months, GP recently prescribed metformin as my cycles fluctuate a lot.
500mg for a week then going up to 1000mg. After a couple of days I started spotting, but it’s been just that, now on 3rd day of spotting.
Did any one else have this? Did period eventually come?

I was told to start metformin 500 mg on cycle day 1

Which day of your cycle did you start the metformin on

Gynae told me to take myo inostol
As well as metformin

( often ppl with pcos get told to take myo inostol if their free androgen is high )

oh really, my GP said I could take it straight away. I was on day 47 when I started, and I have the usual cramps and back ache so unsure whether to think of this as a light period, hopefully it starts properly in the next day or two!

I am taking myo inositol as well.

Your body / cycle is probably confused

My gynae was very firm with the wait til day 1 of period.

In the nicest way - Gps know a little about a lot - not a lot about a little etc

If i was you id stop it - have period - take on day 1 of period etc
