Df and i have been TTC for #2 for 2 years, we've recently had a miscarriage.

I went to the Drs at 12 months and was told to go back at 18 months then at 18 months was told 2 years. Just before 2 years we got pregnant but had a missed miscarriage, the baby had stopped developing at 9 weeks or there abouts i found out at my scan at 13 weeks, I had a erpc to remove it in Feb, we've been ttc since then.

I've had day 21 bloods done twice, the levels were 2 and 30 so low whatever way you look at it.

I've been to the Drs today again and have been fobbed off, The Dr was completly ignorant to what needed to be done. I asked her straight for a referal and she didnt know how to do it. I asked for my day 21 hormones to be done along with day 3 and my thryoid as these have never been checked.

You'd have thought i'd have asked her to amputate my legs

I am fed up to the back teeth of being fobbed off now and am thinking about getting the tests done privatly.

Does anyone have any idea what this would cost ?

Yes it's the Patient Advice and Liasion service. It's not your job to worry about a new doctor - you are the patient and you should be getting answers - not being made to feel like you should pay to get the service you deserve!

Worzel, I am so sorry to hear you are being messed around like this - and sorry to hear about your miscarriages.

If you find anyway to pay for a private consultation then I would. We spent 2 years with the NHS, being told I had PCOs, then being told I didn't, waiting up to six months between appointments, etc, etc. Eventually we spent £250 on a private consult and we were told in one hour what was wrong with me (blocked tubes) and that we needed IVF. The NHS robbed me of 2 years of my fertile life cos they never thought to do such a basic test which, with my history, was a no-brainer. Anyway, we started IVF the following month.

Long story short, we sadly had 2 m/cs, followed by a 3rd successful cycle. I'm now 29 weeks pregnant.

Good luck xxx

Have just scanned through all the posts. For what it's worth, I would highly recommend private treatment if you can afford it. We needed it with conceiving my first dd and are now going private again for trying to conceive our second. You should def be referred by your doc for NHS but the problem is that it just takes so long at each step of the way. With trying to conceive my dd, you have to wait ages before the bloodtests and then wait ages again for you next consultation etc. With private, you can phone up and get the appointment the same week. For me, each consultation costs £150. It was £200 for initial blood test (where they tested for 4 things) and then £100 for subsequent ones (where they are testing for only progesterone and oestrogen). Expensive I know but we are forsaking a summer holiday to do this - the outcome is worth a thousand holidays!!!
I am also in West Mids. Can recommend you our gynae' if you want - she is fab. Hope this helps x
