Day 42 and period not come back after being on the pill

I came off the pill last month to start trying for DC2. I’d been on the pill for a long time which made my periods run like clockwork apart from a brief period off the pill to conceive DC1 three years ago. Looking back at my period tracking app from when I conceived, my first ‘natural’ period was only 2 days late. However, I’m currently on day 42 of my cycle (ie nearly 2 weeks late) and my first ‘natural’ period still hasn’t come.

I initially thought I was pregnant (possible, although very lucky to get pregnant in the first month!) and took a pregnancy test on day 31 (2 days late) but it was negative.

I’ve done some googling(!) and read about how it can take ‘a while’ for your period to come back after coming off the pill but this wasn’t my experience the first time. Just curious to hear other people’s experiences of coming off the pill?

I was on the pill for ten years before coming off it to try for my first. I remember it took a good 3 months before I got naturally regular periods. Had a really long cycle like yours, then a stupidly short one, then they started to balance out again and finally went back to every 28 days like clockwork. It's frustrating isn't it.
