12 dpo BFP, cramps and bleeding

Hi all,

Last night (11 dpo):

-> I got FRER test which was faint positive (after having urinated more times than I cared to count during the day)

This morning (12 dpo)

->FR digital test showing a BFP 'YES+'! So, yay for that.

However, I am concerned as I keep feeling crampy, please see more below:

While on holiday and getting out of the shower on 7th May (10 dpo) I felt a sudden rush of discharge which I quickly realised was blood. It was enough to feel it and it left a big patch on my underwear and really runny consistency and a light red/brown colour.

Since then, only had some very light, faint brown when wiping, I did use a pad and again it was a tiny brown patch, which I couldn't even feel 'flowing'. Today no pad but cramping is more intense (not painful but enough to feel) and just had a little more of that watery brown blood.. . feeling really concerned...

if it makes any difference, yesterday was a really tiring day getting back from holiday destination, flights, etc etc

thoughts anyone?? Is the cramping and blood like discharge common at this stage? Period due in a couple of days.

It could be implantation

Overthebow · 09/05/2024 16:44

It could be implantation or your period, it’s too early to tell.

thanks, I think seeing two BFP in a row has really gotten my hopes up.. is it possible to have a BFP and get your period on the same day?

Would be great to hear from anyone going through this right now or having gone through it in the past.

It seems like implantation bleeding is less common than a lot of online articles make it to be which makes it all so stressful

Unfortunately yes, it could be a chemical in which case it wouldn’t have implanted correctly and your period will come as normal or a bit late. Or, it could be that you are pregnant and your having spotting which isn’t always a bad outcome, it can be normal.

Overthebow · 09/05/2024 17:04

I’ve had both outcomes, three pregnancies, bled in all of them. Two DC, and one was a chemical.

minnieot · 09/05/2024 17:07

It could just be implantation, although just before my current pregnancy I had two chemical pregnancies which went just like this, so please just be aware of that. I sincerely hope it isn't and wish you all the best, the only thing you can really do is wait it out and see what happens x

Suddenly1987 · 09/05/2024 17:17

thanks so much everyone, I will just wait it out and see where it goes... it's good to be reminded of how early it is to tell. I just had to talk to someone..

Just an update for anyone that might come across this thread... The on and off brown/pink/red slight bleeding kept in total for 5 days. Similarly cramping ended after 5 days. Feeling very normal now but with a very slight tight feeling in my lower abdomen.. GP was not concerned and just advised me to keep an eye on it and visit A&E if I get any bleeding again.

I keep testing daily just for peace of mind, and this morning got a 2-3 weeks pregnant result on Clearblue and just now got this on a cheapie. Not sure if it looks good for 17DPO but I hope so.

keeping fingers crossed x

Definitely sounds positive! Is there any chance, because of the bleeding, you could ask for an early scan at your EPU when you're around 6/7 weeks just to put your mind at ease? The tight feeling you describe sounds very normal, I had that for the first 12 weeks or so in my current pregnancy. Best of luck OP ❤️ x

hi everyone! I just wanted to update this thread because I know this time can be very stressful for anyone that might be looking for answers...

I had a private early scan and apparently all is well with my pregnancy and I was able to see a healthy little bean and heartbeat! I do now believe that the bleeding was all part of implantation.. of course it's still quite early for me but at least that bleeding early on was nothing to worry about in the end.
