Pregnancy of unknown location

Hi,

I have another tread open because I thought I was having a chemical/ miscarriage.

I have been diagnosed through EPU as a pregnancy of unknown location! I should be around 7w5d now. Iv been having bloods every 48 hours and Iv had 2 scans.

My HCG is going up (still very low) but scans show no signs of anything. Consultant has a gut feeling that it's not ectopic.
I feel stuck in a grey area of limbo!

I was wondering if anyone else had experience of this? What was the outcome? How long were you monitored before treatment was decided?

Hi just wanted to shed some light on my situation
I had a BFP on 13/03 my last period was 12/02 so around 4 weeks when tested positive
2 weeks later I went to the EPU as I’d went for a private scan at 6 weeks and got told Pregnancy of unknown location
after consistent blood work 2 weeks later a pregnancy sac did show in my uterus they mintoried it and sadly it was a blighted ovum I was 10 weeks before they offered me a d&c and I did start bleeding quite heavily like a period but no pain. Not every situation turns out like this but I found that if you’re dates are pretty accurate and you’re way further than they are thinking then it is possible that it could be ectopic or miscarriage xx sending lots of love x

For me Eealry pregnancy seen me at 4w5d and thought I had etopic....48 hours later confirmed it...did more bloods and because mine was doubling scheduled me for surgery the next day so all in all I was left 4 days they were very quick even if the outcome isn't what I wanted x

I had it though my hcg was going down. They said I was miscarrying but it was PUL. The hcg was consistent with a miscarriage though. Nothing whatsoever could be seen on scan and hcg was 2000. I was about 6w at the time. I was having blood tests every other day for 2 weeks then it went to weekly. I kept being told my body is doing what it needs to do and that I don't need the methotrexate.

Then one day about 9w I got period pains and started bleeding and I thought great I'm finally properly miscarrying. I asked to be checked out at the hospital by EPU to be sure. They told me to go to A&E to which I said I don't want to sit in A&E for hours for a miscarriage. A consultant rang me back 15 mins later and literally told me go straight to surgical admissions.still thinking I was miscarrying as they still couldn't see anything on the scans and hcg was 400 by this point until I had surgery. Turned out I'd ruptured and lost almost 2l of blood in my abdomen.

I never got any of the typical signs of an ectopic, and despite the massive blood loss my vitals were stable.

It sounds similar to mine but I'm 10 days in atm. My bloods were creeping slowly but the last one jumped. I had 301, 318, 369 and then 612. Still nothing visible on the scans. I should be over 7 weeks now.
Iv got another scan and bloods today.

It's such a long process. I'm feeling very fed up!
I also have pregnancy symptoms, very nauseous and tired. I just want it all to be over

Sorry you had to go through this. Were they able to confirm ectopic through a scan?

My consultant said his gut feeling is it's a normal pregnancy that's not progressing 🤷🏻‍♀️ but nothing is showing on the scans

Did they confirm it was ectopic?

How did they know you were rupturing?

My levels are much lower but they can't yet confirm what's going on. I really hope it can be managed without medical intervention, but at this point I'd be happy with any sort of closure.

yes they did confirm they could clearly see the yolk sac in my left fallopian tube x

@justpeachy1234 yes it was my fallopian tube had ruptured, there was a fetus, and biopsy confirmed it.

They didn't know that I was rupturing until they did a laparoscopy. It was just the fact that I had some pain - even though it felt like period pain that started very suddenly is why they suspected I might be rupturing.

I'm glad you went to A&E when you did! I'm surprised it escalated that quickly.

My scan today is still showing nothing! They said my lining is thick which makes them think it's a failing pregnancy in the right place. But when asked, she said ectopic can act the same... sooo 🤷🏻‍♀️ But they don't actually know, because they can't see anything anywhere.

No Idea what my bloods will show tomorrow! The 48 hour monitoring is draining the life from me!

Did you have pregnancy symptoms? I feel a bit nauseous and soo tired! I slept 11pm-12pm yesterday! I just feel exhausted. I'm not sure if it's physical or mental!

@justpeachy1234 I remember the limbo being absolutely awful. After the surgery I was soo happy simply because it was over. I also found desperately wishing it was a miscarriage rather than ectopic awful.

I did have pregnancy symptoms. I had a bit of weird cycle the previous month, and we were planning for another child soon, so decided to use opks to see if I was ovulating, they were constantly positive. I can remember reading that it could be pregnancy and thinking there's absolutely no way. 2 weeks later nausea started - I had evening nausea with my first and this was exactly the same so took a test and it was an absolute dye stealer! But the fact that I'd had a period 3 weeks previous if what made me think somethings not right. I called the midwives who suggested telling my gp I was having pain so I'd get a scan. Which as it turned out saved my life

Yeah the limbo is really pissing me off now. I just want treatment and so I can TTC again. There is 100% no baby, so this just feels like torture now. I really wanted that baby so I'm feeling shit about that. But not knowing what's going to happen is soo frustrating.

I need to go back to work next week. I can't keep going to the hospital every other day!

See I knew something was wrong because my tests weren't progressing. But I was expecting just a miscarriage. I was not expecting this!

I'm feeling very unwell today but I'm not sure if it related or the PUL.
I'm aching soo much, all my bones hurt and I feel really bloated. I feel like Iv got really bad wind or something.

I can't get through to EPU about yesterday's blood tests. But surely anything risky would have shown on the scan yesterday?

I'm still being monitored with EPU for a PUL. My bloods keep going up but scans still can't see anything.

Yesterday I started bleeding lightly, enough to use a pad which is much heavier than the spotting Iv had before.
Today it's been heavier with lots of clots. It's carried on and been consistent all day. I haven't got any real pain and doesn't look heavier than a period.

Can I assume I'm having a miscarriage?

Iv got a scan tomorrow morning booked, do you think I still need to go? Should I call them in the morning?

Could I leave it and test in a few weeks?

@justpeachy1234 I'd still go, just for reassurance. Or call them in the morning and ask.

I will still go to my appointment. Would they be able to confirm if it's passing naturally?

I had a scan which still showed nothing. She said she couldn't see anything concerning.

My bloods came back at 1,650 up from 1,200 on Saturday!

I'm bleeding like a period now. I have been for 2 days now.

They asked me to go back Thursday for another blood & scan. Iv said il do bloods Friday (my day off) but I don't want another scan at this point. Iv had 5 scans that all show the same thing. I want to give me the bleeding a minute to see if my body is trying to pass it.
