Anyone else suffered a Molar Pregnancy?

6 weeks pregnant and it turns out I never was
I am looking for positive stories about other molar pregnancies and how soon after you can start TTC again?
Surely not 6 months, or worse a whole year!!

My dear friend had one. She was fine afterwards, though she already had her DS and no plans for any more so don't know about how soon you can try again.

Bit rubbish really.
DH told his parents that we had miscarried cos he didn't realise the full story and it is so much more than that I have a strange growth in my body, that I am having to go into hospital tommorrow to have removed. And then I can't get on with my life cos I have to be monitored for what seems like an age!

Hi...my sister had one molar pregnancy.be strong because you will overcome this with a happy ending because my sister has now two gorgeous boys and is expecting a girl in may.feel free to talk about this if you want [email protected].

My friends sister had a molar pregnancy. It was a difficult time ...she now has two children who are both healthy and lovely.....I don't know how long she waited, sorry.

Yes, I've had one. Now have ds (3 next week) - and I had to have treatment post d&c which is unusual, so hopefully you won't need this...

Very positive outcomes now for complete recover.

I will be monitored for the rest of my life, but if you don't have to have the treatment I think that you don't have to have such long monitoring.

TF...sorry I wasn't paying attention to who had posted but realise you are from the temping buddies page....really sorry to hear about your news. I hope that it went ok for you yesterday. I think that there is a specialist unit for this at the Charing Cross and Westminster Hospital. I might be wrong...?. It's a rare condition isn't it but I know my friends sister was quite shaken up by it but as I said she has gone on to have two lovely children....The molar happened when she was about 28 I think?

A friend had one. She was told she needed to wait 12 months to ttc once it was cleared (what have you been told? May not necessarily be the same advice for you...). She waited 11 months, started ttc, fell pregnant in her 2nd month and now has gorgeous 4 mth old twins.

Oh, TF, I am so sorry to hear this.

No experience myself, but I am going through something similar - my bean turned out to be ectopic. I'm sending hugs to you, and hopefully I will see you back on the 2WW thread in a few months when we have both recovered.

How far along were you?
It helps me to know that it was never really a baby that I had in there.
Though the molar pg does mean that I can't ttc for a while, so that is not so good.
So it will be a while before I go anywhere near a TTC thread

It's probably good to give your body a break for a while anyway, TF.

I can't TTC again for at least 3 months, because the medication they have given me is toxic and could cause birth defects in a subsequent pregnancy if it is still in my system. I am going to spend the time focusing on making sure I am really fit and well.

I am not sure how far along I was - 5 or 6 weeks maybe. I think it wasn't that big when they last scanned.

Although mine could have been a baby had it implanted elsewhere, the fact is that it didn't and couldn't be allowed to continue. I feel pretty bad about it, but there is just nothing for me to do. I am having some pain tonight, so hoping that it is the chinese food I ate for dinner giving me gas and not the ectopic carrying on growing (sometimes they still rupture, notwithstanding the meds... scary stuff).

I hope you are feeling ok.

Crumbs, twinklingfairy i had only just seen this, and not realised what you are going through. I am so sorry to hear this - i feel my words are inadequate, but i just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts. Look after yourself, and do let us know how you are when you feel able. XX

scaryhairy i saw you had posted her as well, and just wanted to say that i hope you are as ok as you can be at the moment, with everything you are going through as well. I'm not too bad, thanks TF. I keep getting twinges on the side where the ectopic is but they don't last long so I am waiting until tomorrow to speak to the local EPAU. I'm incredibly moody though; with all these hormones, my body doesn't know whether it is pregnant or not.

The thing is, I don't know whether any of this is normal in the circumstances. It's all just so strange.

Are you well? Has your weekend been ok?

I just keep flopping onto the couch every time a wave of nausea hits. Which is waay more often than I would like.
I am not seeing anyone until Wednesday

DH goes back to work tommorrow and the car goes into the garage, so I am home bound, which is worrying. I am normally outta the house as soon as I get a bit fed up. And the weather is poo, so not too keen on walking far, especially at DD's speed. slooooow

Was actually sick this morning too which was no fun and then had to smile at DD so she wouldn't be scared. But it is worrying for the symptoms to be getting worse, not better. There again, the rest of the day was better than yesterday so I guess the idea would be to stop thinking about it all.
Easier said than done. Hope your EPU helps you feel better tomorrow.

TF I don't have any helpful words I'm afraid but I just wanted to say how sorry I was to read about what you're going through. I hope you can find something to do tomorrow to keep yourself occupied whilst you're at home without a car - hope the weather is good enough to take DD out for a walk or something.

I'm sorry - such inadequate words but just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you.

Same goes for you too Scary - horrible to hear what you are going through as well.

i had a persistant mp in 2003, because i had to have follow up treatment, i had to wait for a year after my hcg levels were normal, before ttc, but i think that if no follow up is necessary then it is 6 months.

there is a website with a forum which is quite good www.molarpregnancy.co.uk, and if you feel like it then please contact me, it can feel pretty scary to have something that nobody has heard of.
