Rock bottom LH and a low surge - anyone else??

I've used clearblue LH tests for a while and always get a static smile positive around the time expected (after several days of rising oestrogen flashing) and have regular periods.

This cycle is the first time I've done easy@home testing alongside. Getting a sense of the actual quantity, I realise I have barely any LH either side of the surge and also have a very low surge (under 1). It also subsides quickly.

From baseline it's still big surge but most others on here seem to get well over 1 at peak. One issue is that I don't ever hold for longer than two hours before testing but nonetheless I'd expect to see higher.

Anyone else with very low LH? If so, any issues identified?

Mine was always like this, I never got “1”. I’ve had two pregnancies, currently 18 weeks. You’re getting a peak, it doesn’t matter the LH levels so much as they vary per person.

Thank you @Peonies12 that's reassuring. I usually only see blazing peaks on here or people who are probably missing their peaks by not testing enough on the key days.

First screenshot shows my tiny peak. Second shows my trace levels the week ahead of peak.

Hey @sirensong ! Hi from the other thread we're chatting on... Just picked up on this thread as was searching 'Low LH'

I am similar - admittedly my 'peak' did go over 1 but my base levels are rock rock bottom too... often less than 0.1. My peak was also super rapid and then gone... The app tells me I have a 'rapid onset surge' or something like that...

I think as @Peonies12 said as long as we're getting a peak that's what matters, and everyone's base levels are different. Attaching my chart and pics of tests here - v similar to yours!

@sirensong Also... if you look at your lines - the higher ones are really quite dark - did you try scanning them in a different light? I think your peak looks great based on looking at the progression of the darkness of the lines etc.

Do you track BBT?

sirensong · 09/05/2024 10:44

Thank you @LoulouM12

You have a strong peak so you're definitely fine! My lines went pretty dark but not full thickness.

I feel like BBT will be something I'll be bad at but will look into it!

Updating this thread in case anyone in the future is searching for info on a drastically low surge.

My peak this month was even more laughably bullshit and rapid than last - 0.57! I tested repeatedly once my LH started to rise so there's no chance I missed a really high level.

I did a progesterone test 6dpo assuming it might come back anovulatory but I just got the result and it's positive - 36.1 nmol/L.

So to say a test is only positive if LH shows over 1 is obviously crude and it's completely relative to your base levels (mine are almost zero).

Hey!

I'm so happy to find this thread, thank you for posting. My LH seems to be so low every month, a peak is there but seems to be very low.

Looking at my chart do we think ovulation has happened?

I also struggle with BBT it's hard to do at the same time each morning so not sure how accurate it is.

Hey, yes that looks like a surge and probable ovulation to me - especially if you continue to fall to below 0.1 and that's your usual baseline (some women gear up for another higher peak). It is this graph shape that is important, not being over a specific number as most people claim.

If you have a similar levels next time, continue to test throughout the evening of day 12 - you may have gone even higher.

Good luck!

Thank you! Although I've been TTC for 8mnths or so this is my first month with consistent testing (previously I had found it so hard to find a peak so have had a rubbish relationship with these tests!)

Thank you for your advice. I hope things have been going well for you x
