1 dpo.. am I out?

I’ve been trying my best to take daily BBT this month, going from these, ff predicted I ovulated on Tuesday 30th. Due to a relative being in hospital, my partner and I did not BD in that week until 1st May (predicted 1 DPO)

It’s confused me a little as this would mean the shortest cycle I have ever had since coming off the pill in 2019 (by about 4-5 days), usually by cycles would be about 15 days longer.

I also did an OPK on that day that was negative, I did an OPK the day after that showed a bit of colour (they are usually completely blank for me) so perhaps I had a surge later in the day and just missed it?

I did have EWCM this week so I believe it’s probably accurate, I guess I’m asking is there any chance it’s a day out? I am gutted if we missed it but I understand it’s so hard to time BD around life sometimes.

The only other thing worth mentioning is I’ve been waking up an hour earlier than usual lately so have used an online BBT adjuster a few times.

apologies for the long post! I am not speaking to friends about this so it’s nice to be able to ask you all.

I realised it was giving me the dashed lines because I had added the Opk that had more colour than usual as positive with a note (it wasn’t technically a positive) and as soon as I took that off, it turned to a solid line :-( so I think I’m out this month?

Eggs can live up to 72 hours after ovulation so no you're not out

Ohh this is really interesting, everywhere I read online it says 12-24 hours and the egg dies/dissolves.

This is what I thought too but at my appointment at the fertility place in Coventry they told me up to 72 hours. I think the message is 24-48 because maybe most only last that long, or maybe to ensure people concentrate on dtd in that time period and don't leave it too late?

Well that’s great insight, thank you for sharing. So I think I’m in with a small chance even if it wasn’t the most optimal timing.

I’m in exactly the same boat, the LH surge/dark test was around midnight and was lighter the next morning when I woke up, and we dtd that night. Crossing fingers the egg held on! Also read sperm takes 4-5 hours before it’s able to fertilise the egg 😞 but we’ll see. A few posts on other forums show that some people have got bfp from dtd 1dpo x

Do you track your BBT or only use OPKs? I suppose with OPKs, it just tracks the surge and not specifically ovulation so it could have happened a little later than you think, fingers crossed for you!

Thank you! Just used OPKs. Have been o’ing at cd17/18 but it was a few days earlier this month and took me by surprise! Kicking myself because DH wanted to change plans and come home the night before but I said don’t worry, I assumed the peak would come on more slowly.

But I have definitely had months where o has been later than I assumed, after the symptoms I think of as o symptoms, so keeping fx for you x

Aw I completely understand how you feel. it’s the surprise element of it not happening when you expect. I was kicking myself straight away thinking why didn’t we just try a day or two earlier but if it doesn’t happen this month then at least we’ll know for next time and won’t delay again! Thank you
