Hello,

I have very irregular cycles since coming off Mirena coil in October 2023 and TTC. I've had 2 periods since then and 1st cycle was 67 days and I'm now on CD 57 wondering if my period will ever come again!

I've heard really good things about Soy Isoflavones but I'm a little lost regarding what to buy and how much to take. Does anyone have any they recommend? I can see they come in 20mg/40mg/45mg/75mg doses. Amazon would be the easiest place for me to purchase from.

I'm almost 34 and never had any periods when I was on Mirena.

Thanks so much for any advice. It is a bit of a minefield for a newbie.

Hi hun, I can sympathise as I've been through the exact same thing. I just posted this on another soy thread so will write it here too:

I know it can be super tempting to try 'natural Clomid' but please don't take soy. If you need/want ovulation induction, please go to your gp and get the right medication instead. I've taken them two cycles - both cycles I got pregnant and I experienced early loss on both.

I also have irregular long cycles. I think soy helps you ovulate but it also messes up the balance of hormones which increases risk of early loss.

Personally - I have 36 to 60+ day cycles. I induced a bleed using progesterone pill and then withdrawing it. I took soy for 5 days. On day 20 I ovulated. 11 dpo I got a positive. By 5 weeks I was bleeding and lost it. Same thing happened on the second round, though I took the maximum and ovulated later, still miscarried around 5 weeks.

I have had another pregnancy before these without soy, which was healthy.

Other symptoms I experienced was quite a lot of abdominal bloating and I could feel my cysts (lots of them) were a lot more stimulated and bigger. I may have been quite close to hyperstimulation of my ovaries. I also had an ultrasound which showed it had thinned my endometrial lining a lot (which is similar to Clomid), which may also be why early losses occur.

Just to update - the miscarriage I thought I was having was an ectopic. I took 150,150,200,200,200 that cycle. I think it overstimulated my ovaries as I got very very bloated. Apparently that can happen due to fluid being released when your ovaries are so stimulated? And that can cause ectopic, because the egg is blocked from moving down. So once again I would advise against using soy or any fertility treatment without proper monitoring.

I found Agnus Castus (natural supplement, google will find it) excellent for regulating my cycles, it’s very much worth a try for a few months 🙂

good luck! 👶🏼
