There was just so much info about the process from here onwards I wish I had taken a notepad. It was abit overwhelming and when I'd stop the dr to ask questions she'd look annoyed. Anyway I've walked away with number of blood tests to do and have already forgotten when they need to be done during cycle. I was hoping someone can advice as I tried calling clinic today couldn't get through.

I've got 5 blood tests to do:

  1. Rubella - unsure when to do
  1. Full blood count; ferritin; haemmoglobin - unsure when to do
  1. FSH; LH; TSH; Prolactin - day 1-4
  1. Testosterone - day 1-4
  1. Progesterone - form says on day 21 but I don't ovulate until day 22-24 so should I do this test after this, to get reflective results?

Thank you ladies

Will they give you a letter with a summary?

Lavendar01 · 27/04/2024 18:33

Good question, but I have no clue

I have another appointment in two months for "swabs" and internal scan.

Interesting you've got had any of those blood tests and were referred in my area you have to have had all these and more, plus semen analysis to be referred.
Have you had your AMH done private? Randox health do this for £35

• Rubella - anyday

• Full blood count; ferritin; haemmoglobin - anyday

• FSH; LH; TSH; Prolactin - day 1-4

• Testosterone - day 1-4

• Progesterone - it's 7 days post ovulation for you. (21 is based off 14 day ovulation)

worldwidetravel2017 · 28/04/2024 08:54

Progsterone - 7 days past ovulation

My ovulation was day 17 / 18 one cycle

Tested progesterone with randox health day 25
Was 30.600

You want it recorded over 30 really

I really recommend randox health

Do you mind me asking if your under care ?. Care fertility ,?

Lavendar01 · 28/04/2024 11:26

Thank you @riverlodge90, didnt know about AMH until you mentioned, I wonder why they left that out of the blood tests. I will look into this x

@worldwidetravel2017 thank you x sorry not sure if I understand the question, this was my first appointment following infertility referral made by GP last year, via NHS.

@Lavendar01 the NHS don't usually do AMH tests but they are relatively cheap so worth doing x

Lavendar01 · 04/06/2024 13:07

Hello everyone, I pre booked blood test so that the Day21 blood test is 7days from ovulation day, but I ovulated 2-3days early, which usually never happens but somehow did this time, used LH strips. So my blood test will be 9-10days after ovulation, would this be okay?

Hi ladies

So I had my second appointment this week which was internal scans and swabs. My husband also submitted his semen for analysis last week. When I asked at reception for follow up appointment to discuss both results and nexf steps, she said nothing available until Jan 2025! However if I go private and pay £250/£300 the dr can see me as early as 2 weeks from now.

How is this happening, i'm questioning the number of years I've contributed to NHS and I probably haven't even used the service equivalent to what I've contributed over the those years- I've had 3 scans in my entire life, following injuries which resulted in nothing other than rest and probably 10 blood tests. Now when I'm really in need and my biological clock is ticking (36yrs old with pcos), I'm having to wait THIS long just for an outcome appt to discuss results and next steps and asked to pay more to experdite the process....am I being unreasonable here?

Also still haven't discussed results of the blood tests that were completed in May, following this thread. What's the point of doing all these tests and scans now if I can't be seen until next year

Are you under gynae ?
Gynae should see u at 36 with pcos

Do hastle your gp re results

Lavendar01 · 04/07/2024 13:32

@worldwidetravel2017 Yes I think I'm under gynae, but I've only had 1 appt with her in April and she referred for scans and blood tests which was this week and not with her but with nurses, and the follow up to discuss outcome isn't with the gynae until jan25.

I will contact GP re results. Previously when I pushed for progesterone blood test they refused and said it'll need to be conducted via fertility clinic (I was on the waiting list). I hope they don't say well you have to go back to fertility clinic to discuss.

Is 7months wait for the next fertility appt normal? I was under the impression once you're under a gynae the wait time between appts is much shorter
