Slow growth / late ovulation with letrozole.

Does anyone have any experience with slow follicle growth and / or late ovulation after letrozole, that might cheer me up or reassure me?

Round 1, my day 14 scan showed a follicle at 12mm and my lining ‘thickening well’, but I did not ovulate at all and had to use provera 6 weeks later to bring on a bleed. My Dr couldn’t give me a reason for it, but as he was pleased with the initial response we repeated 5mg letrozole again for round 2.

Im so down just now, feeling like cycle two is going the same was way despite the doctor being pretty positive last week.
I had a scan last Thursday, CD16 and I have a 13mm follicle on my left. My lining was 6.9mm with a ‘great trilaminar appearance’ and the doctor was pleased. He expected ovulation to occur towards the end of the weekend (So far my ovulation tests have been negative). When I reminded him that things were along the same lines as the previous round but nothing happened, he took another look at my notes and said he was still quite confident the time round. I really wish I could share his confidence, but now CD20 and not a hint of LH increasing.

i thought folicles were supposed to grow 2mm per day with letrozole? Can they stop and start growing again? Once it’s mature does it have to be released straight away or can it sit dormant for a while before bursting out? As you can see I’m holding on to all hopes that it may still happen, but I just feel in my gut that I’m out this round already 😞
i know some people do ovulate much later than others, but those with longer cycles, it’s unlikely they would have have had a 13mm’r on day 16, right?

Hey

im on my first cycle but have you asked about another scan and asking for a "trigger shot" to force you to ovulate?

With my letrozole - i'm getting monitored every 2 days from CD10 and then when follicle big enough been told to trigger which in my case was saturday.

Interesting that at 6.9mm your doctor said your lining was thickening well, when mine at 6.5mm said my lining was too thin. Maybe each doctor has its own view

@Rainbowsandcastles just found your post after having a scan this morning (cycle day 13) to be told nothing was progressing (no dominant follicle or lining). I had a scan on Friday which showed 2 10mm follicles. So I'm confused.
Have you found out anymore about why you've not ovulated earlier? Did you end up ovulating? Xx
