First day of last period was 11th Jan. Got a positive pregnancy test around the beginning of Feb. I’m nearly 43 and have had 2 MC in the last 2 years, both were MMC, so was realistic about this one likely not working out either. Had really sore boobs for weeks (the reason I tested) but no other symptoms other than the positive tests. No sickness, not especially tired. So I knew it didn’t look good.

On 1st March when I would have been about 7 weeks, boobs all of a sudden were not sore any more, and I was just certain I’d had another MC. Sure enough the next day bleeding started. I bled for two solid weeks, sometimes red, sometimes more brown, not clots as such but stringy at times, and thick. So a MC. Bit disappointed but I was ok.

Since then my boobs haven’t been sore at all, not tired, not sick, feel normal really but my tummy has continued to grow and if I’m honest I do look pg. I’m about a size 12 atm and usually when I gain weight it’s hips and butt but this is all tummy. I have avoided re-testing after the bleed (which is now 4 weeks 2 days ago) as I knew pg hormone could still be present for a while. Until today, when I just look so pg that I cracked and bought a test. It’s positive (pic attached I hope!)

What does it mean? If I’m still pg, why aren’t my boobs sore any more, and why do I have no other symptoms? And if I’m not, why is my tummy growing and the test positive?

TBH I’d be ok with either outcome, but the not knowing is doing my head in now! Any thoughts on what could be happening? No need to sugarcoat, I’m honestly ok, just totally confused.

Please help me work out what is happening!

Your body can hold the hcg 4 a while

Equally could maybe be a new pregnancy

Either way - you need to see a medic so they can rule out anything 'eek '

When my mum was preg with me- she bled 3 times

She had me 9 weeks early
But im here to tell the tale

In your shoes I'd book a scan to be sure if you're not already due your 12 week scan

I definetly call the GP or EPU tommorow if I were you. It could be a miscarriage, you could have retained tissue, you could still be pregnant but have a sub chorionic heamatoma (spelling might be wrong), could also be ectopic.

well you wouldn't be that far along for you to be showing so dramatically anyway but bleeds can happen and remain pregnant- i would call to be referred for an ultrasound asap

When I had a miscarriage I needed surgery to remove retained products and still tested positive for over a month after the surgery.
The baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks, and in total I was still testing positive at nearly what would have been 12 weeks.
Equally some people have fairly heavy bleeds possibly from a subchorionic hematoma and everything turns out fine. Until you have a scan it's impossible to tell which way it's gone.
