Negative test 15 days after intercourse? Could this still result in a BFP?

I have PCOS and currently on day 64 of this cycle. I started taking metformin 3 months ago to try and regulate ovulation.

I had ovulation signs a few days before and a day or so after intercourse (I conceived my first child this way after not having a period for 3 months) and this was 15 days ago. I believe I was within the fertile window. I don’t use OPKs because my doctor advised me not to due to false positives in women with PCOS. I was advised to follow ‘body cues’ like CM etc…

Ive got all the symptoms I had before when I was pregnant with my daughter. My boobs hurt and I’m getting sharp pulling pains. Negative test today though on a clear blue digital test. Feeling miffed.

Last time I tested positive 15 days after intercourse but I have no idea when I actually ovulated, same as this time.

Am I out this month or should I keep testing for a bit longer?

The only reason I’m asking about it is because I have to take medication to induce a period after missing one or two to reset things and reduce the risk of endometrial cancer. I don’t want to start a course of this if there is a possibility I could still test positive this month.

Can you wait another week?

The pulling pains you mention were my clearest sign of early pregnancy and I got them before a positive test. I think there may still be a chance for you.

Clear blue digital is not that sensitive. could be as low as 10 days post ovulation so might still have a chance. i'd either wait a few days or get a more sensitive test

I would try a first response test they are more sensitive. Good luck!

Mama3029 · 26/03/2024 14:29

Ah ok. When I looked it up it said that the sensitivity of the clear blue digital was 10MIu/ml which I thought was the same as a first response. I thought these had been discontinued anyhow?

I’ll leave it another week and just see what happens. I suppose it’s possible I could have ovulated later than I thought and it could be too early.

I have PCOS and the 3 things that helped me ovulate and make my periods regular and eventually result in my first child were:

  • metformin
  • myo inositol (powder from Zita West)
  • Low dose aspirin

I was on metformin already after coming off the pill for my acne, but I must’ve not been ovulating very often because we tried for 6 months with no luck. As soon as I started myo inositol I got pregnant, sadly this ended in mc. Then I added in low dose aspirin and got pregnant with my son a few months later xx
