Mucinex UK? Any success?

Hi, I’m about to start my TTC journey and seen on tiktok that a lot of couples in the US are trying Mucinex to thin cervical mucus and have found it successful in TTC. Has anyone tried similar here? You can’t buy Mucinex in the UK but they have similar brands - wondering if anyone has any success stories/advice around this? The science behind it makes sense, but wondering if a change of brand may impact results 🥴

Hey, I saw this recently too! I was going to try next cycle (going into month 10😔). I found the UK version that is similar is Robitussin?

Elltx · 21/03/2024 13:41

(It’s the chesty cough ones as need to just contain guaifenesin I believe!)

Hi both, TTC 3 years here and will be the first time trying with mucinex in my next cycle I have tried all the uk equivalents Sudafed, robittusin etc but nothing has worked. I ended up paying £30 from iherb for a box of 28 but it came today and the delivery was quite fast. I will attach the link below it’s always worth a try!

@Ksh5460 I have taken Mucinex this cycle, I’m from the UK but travelled to the US recently and had to get them after seeing so many TikToks and I have been trying for 1 year.

I am currently 1 day late for my period and I have had what I think is implantation spotting on Saturday. My tests are still showing negative but I will keep you updated 😊x

Any update @Ksh5460 @Elltx @Pcosttc @Marshmallow99 ?

Marshmallow99 · 01/07/2024 09:55

@MisssMarion i tried it for one month and it did not work for me, my period ended up being really painful that month and I had unusual spotting so I decided not to continue trying it. I now have a fertility cup I’m giving a go the next few cycles 😅

Pcosttc · 01/07/2024 11:24

@MisssMarion @Marshmallow99 funny you mention that as I had had exactly the same issue on mucinex! A very heavy and clotty period sorry tmi. I genuinely think I had a chemical, I’ve never had a period like that so it is possible I did conceive.

Ksh5460 · 02/07/2024 11:32

I did take it a few times, but not the recommended amount/days as I just honestly kept forgetting 😂 will try again this month properly and see if it does anything. If I don’t get pregnant in this next cycle I think I will try a fertility cup too!

Are there any updates from any of you on this? I realise this post is old but would love to hear any news.

Pcosttc · 23/05/2025 04:05

I can’t say for 100% but it’s too much of a coincidence for it not to be true, the month I took the mucinex I’m confident I had a very early miscarriage as I had a very heavy and painful period, nothing like I’ve had before. I then fell pregnant after 3 years the month after taking mucinex and currently have a 9 week old DS. I would defintley give it a go as there is no harm to try!

Hazzakay · 23/05/2025 07:39

Thank you for replying. Congratulations on your DS. Will definitely give it a try!
