I'm reading mixed things online, some places suggesting it boosts estrogen and shortens ovulation wait, and some suggesting it boosts progesterone so should be taken in luteal phase?

I'd like to shorten my cycles as they are long. Would Agnus castus help? I'm also trying soy isoflavones this cycle, in hope fo bring ovulation forward

What dosage would be right, are there cons of taking too much, which method of AC is best/most effective?

Thank you

Hi,
I saw a medical herbalist for around 6 months due to long irregular cycles with mid cycle spotting. I’d already had sinister causes ruled out by the GP. After quite a detailed consultation I was given a ‘mix’ of herbal tinctures that I had to take daily or twice a day and agnus castus was part of that. The herbalist told me that AC is most effective in the morning and I was meant to take it 30 mins+ before eating. I don’t have the herbs any more but still take AC as a tincture that I bought online myself as I think it was the most helpful of the ingredients. I take it every day and follow the instructions on the bottle about dosage but at a slightly lower dose (once per day only morning) as that is what the herbalist recommended for me.

the key thing for me was it helped me with balancing hormones.

If it’s an option for you I’d recommend seeing a herbalist because mine was great and helped me get a handle on crazy cycles!

@CurlyWurly1991 glad to know it helped you. How long did it take to start seeing results? Are your cycles regular and/or shorter now?

Do you mind sharing AC you bought online.

I've considered seeing a herbalist but I've read so much on here about them trying to sell their products, with all the existing confusion I don't want to put myself under more pressure. Like I wouldn't mind getting advice /consultation but would want to be left to make my own decision about whether I want to buy their products or online (to compare costs)

Yes that’s fair enough. Mine is from organic herbal remedies, good site.
I would say if you look up registered medical herbalists you should be OK. They just mix up their own herbal blends and combine that cost with the consultations. If you’re buying the herbs yourself you might not find it that much more expensive but they will offer something much more tailored. Herbs can be quite potent so probably worth having caution about self prescribing based on online stuff. Seeing the herbalist gave me a bit more confidence about what was going on in my body. I did get pregnant after being on the herbs for 5 months (sadly MMC) and my periods are much more regular with less Pms etc.

I've just started taking it from Amazon to regulate my periods since coming off the pill. I have been having very irregular periods and also TTC. Hopefully goes well
