which is the best month to have a baby?

This will sound so ridiculous and superficial...
I have two sons, both born in deepest winter... don't want to do that again and have all the birthdays so close together. I think spring would be good, but also fall. Opinions please.

And of course I know I'll be lucky just to conceive again, let alone be able to plan in exactly which month it will happen!

I always thought an autumn baby was a bit miserable - by the time you are ready to go out it's the middle of winter and foul.

I'd say April - with a view to being in the park by around June/July!

Mmm, yes I was thinking that too. Or May. Also there's the school advantage if they're that bit older.
Can't decide whether to shag all summer for next spring, or wait a bit longer!

I have a September and a brand new March baby. Both a bit cold and miserable, if I could choose next time would go for a May or June baby.

April was brilliant with DS1..
September with DS2 is an interesting one I will have him at home before full time school for a full extra year which I kind of like but it may be hard if he is ready to go to school developmentally but has to wait... we will have to wait and see.

I've had a May baby last year and thought it would be ideal... unfortunately it pissed down the whole of last summer so it wasn't a great advantage. Am hoping to have a few future b'day parties in the garden though

The worst thing about having summer born babies, is enduring a hot summer whilst heavily pregnant (gave birth on Aug 28th of 2003 which was the heatwave summer - it was hell) also it is a proven academic disadvantage to most children born in the summer months if you are following the England/Wales education system.

I'd plan for February/March or October personally

April was great with DD. So great that I'm expecting again in four weeks.

March. Days are getting longer, spring is trying to spring ... and more importantly, nursery education grant kicks in at the start of term after third birthday, which in DD's case was about two weeks after her birthday! Also half-way through the school year, so she will be 4.6 when she starts in September, which I think (hope!) will work well. Plus when she was a baby she wouldn't nap except in the pushchair, on the move - having her in October would've been a bloody nightmare.

I have 3 DSs and number 1 was April, then August, then May. I found that April was great and that I was just ready to exit the house when it was lovely and summery, also breastfeeding and stuck to a chair while all the trees were in blossom after he was born.

With DS2, it was such a hassle to get him togged up in winter gear. Also, by the time he'd woken up from his lunchtime nap, it was dark and raining so I never got to leave the house - my opinion is that this contributed to PND after DS2. Also, he is the youngest in his year by MILES and so has a distinct disadvantage to his peers.

So for DS3, I went for what I knew worked better for me and had him at the beginning of May!

I would pick April by choice, but Feb worked out well for us, and expecting the next one in Oct, which also seems good.

July or Aug not so good for child in terms of no-one ever being around for birthday parties (speaking of my own).

I've got a June DS. I have to say, it was such a heatwave! If I could choose when to have a baby (and unfortunately I'm not very fertile at all so I cant) it would be around April or May. You miss being heavily pg in a heatwave and they are good months for school. They wont be the oldest or the youngest. If you are fertile enough to be able to choose then definitely go for an April/May birth. Good luck!

I think September is best - sod the weather, because your child will be the oldest in the school year!

I know this sounds odd to think about but my ds is the youngest in his year and also has some co-ordination delay so school has been a real struggle for the poor boy. Being the oldest in his year would have helped him no end! Specially in these days of starting at 4.

May was lovely with dd, it was warm at night for feeding with being too opressive and wheather was generaly good for newborn ambling. Currently pg with no2 and due in November, whilst longing to meet baby bean, dreading long, cold windy nights

DS is Sept and I would avoid that again if I could (took three years to have to him so wasn't complaining at the time ) - purely because all the Christmas conceptions come home to roost in Sept and the maternity wards are heaving. DD was July and I had a ward to myself.

I was 30 last week and my DD is a March baby. So I would say March is the best month
