Do I need to get the MMR jab?

TTC and GP have said they have put a referral in for a fertility specialist, had to have my blood tests done again as they had ran out and I’ve seen that I don’t have rubella antibodies and may need the vaccine. It is just going to delay things which is disappointing as first went to the doc last July and just want to get started. How important is it that I get the vaccine? Would I need it to start fertility treatment?

Yes usually need it before treatment.

Tbh there are usually so many tests before treatment starts anyway that it prob won't delay anything. You need to provide copies of things like up to date smear. Will need scans and bloods done. And various appointments. You are actually better knowing about it now and being able to get it sorted.

Okay thank you, I will get it booked in. I had the same blood tests done back In July so wish they had said then, it’s only because I have seen on the NHS app the results this time

Sorry just coming back to this, I called the doctors this morning and the receptionist checked my results and said they came back fine. Should I ask them to book it anyway if it says I don’t have any antibodies? Don’t want to risk it

Hi@BellaR92 what did you decide to do? I’ve had the exact same problem, but in my case my ivf clinic decided to tell me three days before I’m due to start ivf stims (and only because I happened to call up about something else myself!!).

I definitely had the MMR vaccine as a child.

Wishing one of the many doctors we’ve seen a told me to check for this 2 years ago when we first started asking fertility questions.

I got the jab, they said I only needed the booster. Ahh that’s soo frustrating😕 I know it should be one of the first things they check as it delays the whole process
