Trying to conceive with an expired implant

Does anyone have any experience conceiving with an expired implant. I'm currently having a nightmare getting to a doctor to get it taken out. It's 3 years out of date due to the pandemic, but my doctors don't have anyone qualified to remove it and cant go to a sexual health clinic as im over 25 I live in a different county to my doctor (just on the border) so I can't get refered to a sexual health clinic in my county and can't get referred to a clinic in my doctors county as I have a differnt address. Im going from pillar to post it's a nightmare! I'm convinced it's not working anymore. But im on the verge of ripping the thing out myself!!
But has anyone had a similar situation and got pregnant with an expired one?

Would appreciate any experiences!

Anyone can go to a sexual health or family planning clinic at any age.

Who said you couldn't? Just phone and make an appointment.

I've phoned, I've been on an off the phone all day with clinics and my gp! In glos you have to be 25 or under to go to the clinics, anyone older you go to your gp.
I'm still working on it but I just wanted to know of it can happen, if its possible.

@EllieFxOx is that you’ve had it in for 3 years or it should have been removed 3 years ago.

I believe, but I’m not 100% sure, that although they recommend removal after 3 years they can be effective for 5-6 years.

I know when I had the implant my periods stopped completely, so if that was the case for you then if they have restarted then you may be ok. But probably best to get it removed anyway.

I know it’s not ideal, but is there a private clinic you could have it removed at?

Yeah a lot of the implants licensed for 3 years in the uk are licensed for 5 in the us and other countries I don’t think it’ll cause you any bother but it will most likely hinder ttc. If I was you I’d just phone the hospital try and get through to a gyn ward and ask them what you can do, a lot of the girls in my gym ward started off in sexual health if they can’t help you they might be able to signpost better than the gp.

Do you have any other doctors in your area? I wonder if it would be possible to change surgeries if another doctor could do it?

There are definitely sexual health clinics where you don't need to be 25 and under to attend!
Try here?
