When to have “day 21” pregosterone test with 10 day Luteal phase

Hi guys I wondered if anyone could help. I need to have another “day 21” pregosterone test this month - my past ones have been varying but all still below baseline and I’m wondering if I’m testing on the wrong day.
this cycle I took soy isoflavones which seem to have made me ovulate later (if I did) on CD 20 (positive OPK CD19 and lots of CM ovulation pain etc but don’t temp) My Luteal phase is 10 days which means my period would now be due on CD30. If the blood test is meant to be done 7 days before period that would only be 3 days after ovulation.
so my question is what CD is best to do the blood test this month?

Hi @TTCbaby1soph ignore the term Day 21, that's for an average cycle. You get the bloods approx 7 days after ovulation regardless of when AF is due. I have a 9/10 day LP and got them done 7 days after ovulation which confirmed it. Best of luck 🤞

@Sez281 oh that’s interesting. So my GP said due to my cycles then have it done 5/6 days after I get my positive OPK which I thought was a bit random and probably the result of some guesswork. I assumed it had to be 7 days before AF not 7 days after ovulation. So I should test 3 days before AF is due then ? Approx CD27?

So your GP us right, forget about when AF is due just get them done 5/6 days after peak opk which would make you around 7dpo. It doesn't matter if AF is due 12 or 2 days later x

This is my current cycle on Flo - so should maybe do the blood test for wed/thurs 🥴🥴🥴 I was planning to do it on Monday based on what GP said

Ok but 5/6 days after peak OPK would only be 4/5 days past ovulation. Is that ok? As I generally ovulate the next day after my positive OPK

I think a day or so either side is fine, but if you know for sure that you ovulate a day after peak then go for the bloods 6/7 days after it. Your results should still confirm ovulation regardless of if it's a day out.. I believe that a reading over 35mul confirms ovulation and normal progesterone levels, best of luck 🤞

Hi OP, I’m due to have the same test and I have irregular periods and 9-10 day luteal phase. I got my peak LH today which is CD 29 and my doctor did say 7 days before period, but just like you that would make me only 3DPO. So if I ovulate tomorrow or next day, I’ve look on the online booking for blood tests and my chosen hospital doesn’t do weekends so I’m going to book for Monday 12th so will likely be 7-8dpo but only 2-3 days away from period.
This is just based on my research online for this progesterone test, hopefully it works out!

So if I ovulated CD20 then I should do the blood test on CD27 and probably AF will arrive CD30 right? It’s all a bit confusing but that being said if this is the right way then most of my blood tests before were probably done on the wrong day. Although my GP did say to do the test 5 days after positive OPK which would bring me to CD24
