Anyone prescribed letrozole if you're already ovulating?

I'm 29, been trying for 9mo and recently my (private if that matters) gynaecologist prescribed letrozole. She said there's a chance it might not help as I already ovulate but worth a try.

Anyone taken letrozole if they're already ovulating? Did it help?

Yea that’s me!
About to start my 4th round.
I ovulate regularly anyways but have struggled to conceive this year, and with Letrozole it just means you produce more than 1 egg so increases your chances.
On my second round I did get pregnant but sadly miscarried. I’m starting 4th round tonight hoping for another successful round.

good luck!

@AnnieStar12 any reason you take in the evening va morning? Does it make a difference?

I don’t think it makes a difference and was never told any particular time. But I guess it’s important to stick with what you choose so it’s roughly every 24 hours.
last month I did mornings but this time I’m gonna do evenings just cause I’ll start tonight.

when do u start?

shoulditryletrozole · 02/02/2024 19:52

@AnnieStar12 started today! Fingers crossed

Hi can I ask what the main benefit of this is, and also how you went about getting the private gynae?

shoulditryletrozole · 02/02/2024 20:09

@CurlyWurly1991 I guess main benefit is hoping I ovulate 2 eggs so more chance of conception? Or otherwise I'm not sure, maybe there's other benefits, happy to hear from others

Not sure what you mean in terms of how I went about getting a private gynaecologist. I just booked an appointment with a gynaecologist who takes patients privately. You can google "private gynaecologist Manchester" or "private gynaecologist near NW1 2AB" or "private gynaecologist St Mary's hospital" etc depending on where you live and it should come up with some doctors

I did two cycles of this and got pregnant second time. First time I only released one egg, second time two eggs and am pregnant with singleton

@shoulditryletrozole thanks , I wasn’t sure about private healthcare as have never used them. Can they access your nhs records or do you need to tell them results etc verbally?

shoulditryletrozole · 02/02/2024 20:56

@CurlyWurly1991 I think you could / should just bring a copy of your results with you! Not sure if they can access your NHS records but my tests were either all with that one doctor, or for the ones that weren't with her like my husband's semen analysis, I showed her a copy at an appointment

@Isitisit how long were you trying for before? Were you ovulating before letrozole?

Not letrozole but clomid. My private consultant felt it would help mature my eggs as I had 3 MCs previously. Conceived on first round but sadly had a MC. Later found out I had low progesterone and now have a 3 month old after taking progesterone from ovulation. Best of luck.

Isitisit · 02/02/2024 22:27

@shoulditryletrozole I had been trying for 10 months including 1 early miscarriage. Yes I was ovulating but also have PCOS so the letrozole also helped regulate my cycle.

SadieBarts · 07/02/2024 10:59

Hi all. I had a follow up appt yesterday with my clinic yesterday and they prescribed me Letrozole too, when I never haver issues ovulating. I really didn't understand the reason why, but from reading your comments I know think I do.

My body never responds to medicated FET, but naturals it does - I have issues with my lining thickness. So far had 5 abandoned cycles due to lining thinness, but 2 went ahead. On one of the abandoned, they said my lining was amazing, but I bleed and it was cancelled. This one I actually released 2 eggs. I assume this is what they are trying to mimic.

Hi everyone,

How are you all getting on? Just joining in here as I started my first round of letrozole yesterday.

I have PCOS but I do ovulate some months, started with 2.5mg and then going for bloods in a couple of weeks to see how my body has reacted to that. Been ttc for almost a year now and feeling mixed emotions.

worldwidetravel2017 · 02/07/2024 23:48

Hows everyone?

Im newly on letrozole
Low dose

I ovulate anyway most cycles
