I have never been pregnant before and I know everyone is different but out of curiosity did you know you was pregnant before you did a test? Did you feel significantly different or did you feel nothing at all?

I feel like I’m pretty in tune with my body and would notice any slight change in anything 🤣 but who knows I don’t know what I’m looking for.

Nothing, not a single symptom. Still had ‘periods’. When they stopped I was 7 weeks out with DS1 (so my 12 week scan rapidly became the 20 week scan) and only not out with DS2 because the midwife remembered me from DS1 and sent me for an ‘early scan’ where it turned out I was 13 weeks.

This might not make sense to anyone but when I'm happy, I feel like my face is buzzing. I felt that in the early stages of both pregnancies before the nausea/ chronic constipation started

Gettingnowhereagain · 23/01/2024 19:08

My first baby I knew at conception. Sounds mad but I just knew. I thought " I'm pregnant " and I was right. Second baby I hadn't got a clue. It wasn't until I started with morning sickness really badly ( I didn't have sickness with the first) that It even occurred to me I might be pregnant.

MammaTo · 23/01/2024 19:47

Was dog tired, couldn’t keep my eyes open. Felt so queasy - especially after anything with milk so cereal or cups of tea. Really bad period pains without a period.

Alwaystired2023 · 23/01/2024 19:50

For me I feel very hungover - sick, can't think, headache, want to eat but everything makes me feel sick, out of sorts etc

Twiggywinkle13 · 23/01/2024 19:55

I swear the sickness and food aversion started at the moment of conception and didn’t leave until the placenta was out!! Kinda hoping I don’t have the same next time

Workawayxx · 23/01/2024 19:57

Sore boobs and constipation were my main early symptoms.

Outliers · 23/01/2024 21:44

9 months of discomfort, I say this sensitively.

ceruleansky · 23/01/2024 21:46

The only thing I felt was extreme period cramps and I tested negative until 14dpo. On 16dpo when I was 2 days late I tested positive, very faintly, then it turned darker.
I was so sure that it was negative that I even bought all the medication for my next cycle.

BotherThat · 23/01/2024 21:51

PMS on steroids.

Krustykrabpizza · 23/01/2024 21:51

I felt different, my boobs really hurt which is not a symptom I get with periods.

Then for the rest of pregnancy just felt like crap. Bloating that never goes away because it just turns in to the bump, hips so sore I could barely walk by the end, indigestion, nauseous all the time and hungry at the same time as being nauseous. As you can tell I did not enjoy and I dont plan on doing it again

Confusedddddddd · 23/01/2024 22:15

1st time: 6dpo - weird dizziness, 7dpo nothing, 8dpo super sore boobs which made me take a test and it was positive. Super sore boobs was my only symptom for a few weeks, along with going off coffee which I love. Mild nausea kicked in about 8/9 weeks but went away by 12 weeks, then after that just the usual sore back from carrying a massive lump for a belly. Considering I was a "high risk pregnancy" due to many many factors I had a fairly straight forward pregnancy and not a single complication.

2nd time: Got accidentally pregnant, did not have any symptoms whatsoever, didn't know I was pregnant until I noticed at 7weeks that I hadn't felt ovulation pains that month (I still got my period the previous month), a few days later I was feeling a bit nauseous so took a test and it was a very strong positive. Panicked and went to the gp who was concerned I'd still had a full flow period 3 weeks earlier and such a strong positive test so they referred me to EPU and the pregnancy turned out to be ectopic sadly and ruptured shortly after. I'll now take a test every month I'm not on contraception just to be sure as I never want to go through that again.

FairyGiraffe · 23/01/2024 22:16

At the start, like terrible jet lag combined with car sickness and raging boobs/bloating.

Once over that, I had moments I genuinely forgot. But my bump was small for a long time.

Then later on, it's weirdly natural. The baby moving is like a wriggling sensation in your tummy. It is special and amazing to feel but not strange. I didn't notice my bump much until it was very large at the end and got in the way of movement.

Ladyj84 · 23/01/2024 22:28

No joke sick all 4 times all the way thru night and day 2 weeks in the minute I give birth it stopped. Love my kids hate being pregnant

honeyfox · 23/01/2024 22:32

Metallic taste in the mouth, sense of smell heightened. Went off my tea. Unfortunately like a previous poster had a loss and no luck since. Terrible indigestion too.

Boomboomshakeshaketheroom · 23/01/2024 22:32

My pregnancies were back in the day when tests didn't work until you were a few days overdue. I thought I felt a bit heavy in the tummy and boobs leading up to testing but I often thought I felt that on the months I tested negative too. Mind over matter!

In hindsight the only real pre-test clue was that I peed a bit more than usual.

Raffaell0 · 23/01/2024 22:32

Awful stomach cramps. Like trapped wind but bad enough that I had to lie down. The next day I still had the wind-like pain but it was better.
The next evening after I’d had dinner I had a bad tummy and just thought “something isn’t quite right”. My period was due in two days and I assumed it was that coming (it was NOT a planned pregnancy) but I thought I’d do a test “just because”. Pregnant. I was shocked- devastated if I’m completely honest. But it turns out it was the best thing that could ever have happened to me ❤️
Can only assume the “trapped wind” was implantation looking back.

Totallywingingitmum · 23/01/2024 22:36

I knew both times before my positive

I had striking pain in my abdomen, severe bloating and just knew I felt different

this continued for the whole first trimester. Also had spotting the week I had implantation for both. Like a quick light period for a day.

The nausea and sore boobs didn’t come until 6 weeks +

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/01/2024 22:39

The mist overwhelming travel sickness.

RaininSummer · 23/01/2024 22:48

I was coming home and falling asleep as just so tired and then started craving meat and eggs despite being a new vegetarian and loathing eggs. Every smell made me feel nauseous especially exhaust fumes.

Lovelydaytomorrow · 23/01/2024 22:51

Only symptom before 5 weeks was cramps exactly the same as when period due.

6-7 weeks, some sharper stabbing pains/ cramps which I was convinced was me miscarrying every time. Oh and blue veins on my breasts became very noticable!

8-16 weeks extreme tiredness (went to bed every night as soon as I got home from work), constant feeling of sickness (the same as travel sickness), only wanted to eat beige (DH often brought me crumpets in bed at 6pm) and I couldn't brush my teeth without vomiting- that latest right through to the day after I gave birth!

Hiddenvoice · 23/01/2024 22:52

It took years for me to fall pregnant. I analysed every symptom and convinced myself each month I was pregnant then I had to stop trying. I didn’t notice any changes with my body until I was a few days late. I was more annoyed that my periods were becoming irregular again rather than thinking I was pregnant so was very shocked. I thought I was very in tune with my body so was very surprised.

With my second pregnancy I knew straight away. I tested very early and was annoyed by the negative test as I just felt different. Felt fuller if that makes sense and already felt a change in my hormonal state. My dh also said I was pregnant as he felt I looked different all of a sudden. Tested incredibly early and found out when I was only 1-2 weeks pregnant.

Lovelydaytomorrow · 23/01/2024 22:53

Oh the smell one! With DC2, our washing machine broke so MIL was doing some for us. The smell of her washing powder was just more than I could take 🤣 Horrific!

HalloumiGeller · 23/01/2024 22:56

I'm currently 24 weeks gone with my 3rd and its a lovely feeling, but it's also an anxious time aswell as you constantly worry if someone is wrong, in particular if i don't feel baby move for a while.

I didn't know I was pregnant before my period was late, as tbh I wasn't looking for the symptoms (we were TTC but thought we had missed the boat that month). My boobs get tingly when I'm due on anyway and I didn't have sickness at that point. The closer I get to my due date the more I worry about labour and birth 😑

Sore boobs
Extreme fatigue
Round ligament pain if I stood up too quickly
Heightened sense of smell
