I have just floated home.

I'm two days overdue and so was bursting to do wee at the shops, bought test and went into their loo.

I'm a bit confused, its a clear blue one, not a digital one. in the first box there is a line and if a line appears vertically then you are pregnant.

I saw a line so faint appear I had to squint and tip the test stick back to see... but there is definitely a line I SWEAR!!!

My heart was pounding and so I done my shop first then walked into a chemist and asked the lady if she could take a look to confirm. She looked at it quickly then said flatly "there is nothing there" - I was so embarassed.

I quickly rushed out and walked away as fast as poss.

Looking at the stick now I can make out a line so faint, it is off centre to the left and not thick like the horizontal line.

Could the woman be right and

a. I am imagining this faint line
or
b. The stick is faulty.

I have another one so don't know whether to try again on my next wee or keep it for tomorrow.

I am two days over so you would expect the line to be darker right?

I'm in a mess now.

my line didn't appear in the 2 minutes, in fact i put it in my dressing gown pocket and forgot about it. (clearblue) The next day i pulled it out and there was a line- did the other one in the packet- very faint line, then had an agonising couple of hours wait until boots opened. then i bought a digital one and it clearly said 'pregnant'.

good luck

I am so p*ed off now that I did not just spend a few more pound and get a digital so I could just no if i am or not. this waiting about is unfair.

clear blue need to sort it out if so many of their tests dont work, they are are bloody expensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry... but stressed out and fed up now.

I really hate to burst your bubble, but I have had three tests like this in the last week and am not pregnant. Is it a thin hair-like line along the left edge of where the positive line would be? If so, then I suspect your test was as dodgy as my three.

(Should add, of course, that this does not mean that you are not pregnany, but CB have told me that this result should be considered negative).

I called Clearblue who were incredibly unhelpful, particularly as abit of googling showed lots of information on this particular problem with their tests.

Peeonastick has a section on false positives and some information is in there. Also, Fertilityfriend has a gallery of tests with errors - there is a picture of one like this in there. My three lines were definitely there but not strong enough for me to get a photo unfortunately.

They asked me to send in my used test for their analysis, but I had binned them. Maybe you could send yours in?

i had 4 very faint lines, tey all basicly showed i wasnt pregnant but i still had no period, i went to the family planning clinic and she also said i cant be sure but you must be and that was it.

the thin blue line was a boy, my immediate thick line was my daughter.

good luck x x

I'm not sure but i know i had a LOT of them and convinced myself i was pg when i wasnt.

When i finally got my bfp it was a case of "ah, ok then!" if it was a positive, even a very faint positive the line would have thickness to it and not be pencil thin.

I'm really sorry to have burst your bubble but its better to tell you what probably is reality rather than keeping you going saying its a bfp if you know what i mean.

God i bet i sound like a right bitch dont i!!

I only say it cause i posted on here with the same problem and wish someone would have told me straight that it was a bfn rather than, "a line is a line is a line"

sorry if i upset anyone

iliketosleep · 19/03/2008 20:48

oh and if you ring clearblue they send you free digital tests

callmeovercautious · 19/03/2008 20:53

I had a really pale line at 7 days overdue. The GP said a line is a line, did not retest or anything. DD is 18m now

Save the other for the morning and let us know! If it is still not clear go and buy a digital one, keep your legs crossed all day and then do one later.

iliketosleep · 20/03/2008 08:56

have you tested again??

Hopeyseggwasntbig · 20/03/2008 09:44

Have you?????

OrmIrian · 20/03/2008 09:49

I got fed up with doing home pregnancy tests with DD (I had done about 10 with DS#1 just to make sure ). So I walked into Superdrug with a bottle of wee and asked the pharmacist to test it for me. Came back 10 mins later and he handed me the result and said 'Congratulations!' in a rather solemn voice.

If I were you I'd test again tomorrow morning.

Fingers crossed for you.
