Today I got my copper coil taking out due to endometriosis been advised my GP to take the mirena coil instead to stop the severe pain with endometriosis.

so what I’m really asking is about side effects I’ve had so much people tell me it puts on air of weight. And so on has anyone experienced this?

On my second Mirena. No negative side effects for me (Inc weight change). Periods have stopped - yay!!!

I've had mirena for 18 months - no side effects or weight gain at all.
In fact the only side effects have been lighter, shorter periods and minimal pain!

The mirena was great for me personally, I had no issues until year 4 so I had it removed. I had no periods and no weight gain throughout.

I had a water weight gain of 1kg. A bit of constipation unless I was very careful about diet and water. Progesterone slows gut transit.

That was it. Wish I’d had one years earlier.

I had a Mirena put in early last year for endo and adeno but still lost weight on my diet. I don’t know if I would’ve lost more but weight gain wasn’t a side effect for me.

I had months and months of bleeding/spotting on it and it took months for my periods to settle. I still get a period but don’t flood any more which is my main motivation to keep it.I have less pain but it took 6+ months to notice the difference and tbh the first couple of periods on it were so awful that nearly had it removed.

Ok thanks for the advice. I’m currently on nothing at the moment just want to give my body a rest until after the next period is due to see how the pain plans out.

just a bit scared regarding the weight gain and side effects as bleeding does cause my endo to be more worse with pain.
