Hi. I have pcos and had to do Clomid and moved onto gonal f injections for my youngest son. My partner and I are keen to conceive but I don't think the NHS will qualify me for fertile treatment again. So I was wondering if anyone knows the cost of going private for the meds or even buying online? Thanks in advance

I had clomid px privately via fertility clinic, the actual cost of medication wasn't much, private px and think the cost from local pharmacy was less then £20. However I did have to pay for fertility test, consultation and the scans to check for ovulation. Probs around £600 total.

I was px clomid for TTC #2, I was referred to nhs fertility clinics before DD1 but conceived naturally but asked to be referred again when TTC#2 after no success after 12 months. I was referred but took ages (at least 18-24 months) and in that time I'd gone private.

Px both clomid and leletrozole privately and although ovulation on both neither were successful so moved to private IVF.

Thanks for that info. Were the tests deemed necessary to get the prescription?

It was a while ago, but yes we had to have tests before it was px.

Okay thanks. Who did you go private with if you don't mind me asking? Did you use private health insurance or pay out of pocket?

We went with Manchester fertility (uk based) and paid ourselves Smile
